Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Plant, huh? Hmm. I kill things. But plants are less work than animals.

Well, I think any animal can be dangerous if you try to tick 'em off... Not sure what ticks off an emu.

Good question. Hmm--I bet they get ticked off if someone calls them an ostrich :)

At least you still can look. The pier closer to the house is gone. We used to like to go there for breakfast.

It's cool your parents are helping you with all that--that helps a lot! Bills should go pretty smooth for you; you're a very organized person. For cooking, here's a good resource:

Carl Japikse, The $1.98 Cookbook: How to Eat Like a Gourmet and Save $6,000 a Year

Many Americans lives on a tight budget. We hear reports about children going hungry, even in this land of plenty, school lunches, and food stamps. Mr. Japikse began to wonder if it were possible to eat well on a starvation budget--and if so, how. He set a goal of spending no more than $1.98 for dinner--and another $1.98 combined for breakfast and lunch--less than the government's daily allotment for food stamps. He found that it was not difficult to meet these targets and still eat sumptuously.

The book includes recipes for all meals. Price: $8.95.

I agree! How does the James Taylor song go?

Go on and tell me lies but hold me tight.

Yeah - that's it.

Didn't Luke say that to Yoda as his excuse for why he couldn't use the Force to lift the X-Wing? :)
