Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Sorry to hear about your fish! My first pet was an orange goldfish, whom I naturally named "Orangey" :)

Yeah - you can have one Beta in a community tank they just don't get along with each other. I usually have one. They are meat eaters, but too slow to go after other fish, they eat small blood worms or brine shrimp.

I think alpacas are a little smaller and easier for Jessie to handle, she's only about six.
And yeah, not sure who said it, but I do think you can/have to shear them.

I saw some emus when I was at the zoo, too. Kinda funny-lookin' creatures--of course they probably think the same about me :) Now they can be dangerous if they kick, right?

You can put one Betta in a community tank, from what I understand, just as long as you don't have "nipping" fish in the tank or fish that the Betta could mistakenly fight with, like Angelfish.
Also, I've heard that the fish tank shouldn't have strong water currents since Bettas prefer still water.

Oh, ok. I'm thinking that once we get back from the beach, when the school year starts, I can set up a tank.

Well, I think any animal can be dangerous if you try to tick 'em off... Not sure what ticks off an emu.

A lot of homeschoolers I've known raised goats. Mom always said we weren't real homeschoolers because we didn't have goats.I learn something new about homeschooling every day around here :)
You've got mail.

Among other things, yeah. He's a good dad.
Mom's job is to help me find a "cooking for one" book and explain about water bills and stuff.
