Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yep, I'm still on dial-up too. I haven't moved into the new century yet. In '01 I moved into a house with heat, airconditioning and doors that have locks on them though. :-)

Well, hiiiiiiiiiiiidee-ho! Did someone call me? Have y'all been eating enough fiber? You know, fiber's very important to the ecosystem down here in the sewer. That's why eating all that falafel and health food is really bad for the environment. . .

Hi Ruthy, ecurbh, everyone.
Yes, looks like just in time for our 30th anniversary.
I was just on Amazon and saw it, was surprised, thought we'd have to wait 'til August and November..
Did you note in the above picture that Ecurbh seems to be riding past a papaya tree?

There are folk-without-a-life out there, who juice up their computers. They overclock their CPUs --- that is, cause them to run at faster speeds than they are rated for. That is, making a 2.8GHz chip run at, say, 3.47GHz.
Some of these folk also modify their computer cases. These are the case-modders. They often start out with colored cases --- acid green, fuschia, bright orange --- and then add cool grilles, special case lights behind the fans, etc. ...
A subset of case modders are sick creatures.
Like the freakazoid who made this:
This is a no-case system, with a handle in the top. For more, check out these pictures.
Or, for art's sake, try this:
This is called "Intel's Silicon Rising."
"Project Silicon Rising a commissioned piece for Intel Corporation has been completed. Out of a silicon crystal base we have a metalic winged figure taking flight at a dramatic angle. With the use of internal lighting in both the base and the figure, this has made for an interesting case mod. Shades of airbrushed metalic paint bathed in a crystal clear, protective layer of resin, all playing and reflecting light while accenting shadow highlight this piece. My very special thanks and love to Wendy Brackman, artist extraordinaire for her incredible sculpting and help on this project."
For more, check out these pictures.

I'll stick to Pina Coladas! When we were first married and living in DC, wife and I found a favorite restaurant that made the Pina Coladas with ice cream. I'm prolly still wearing about 10-12 lbs. of 'em...
