Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ah, yes. The red "x" is a level I have yet to achieve...

I see a lot of potential for torn knee ligaments in that kick.LOL! Yeah, that can happen if you do it wrong :) To avoid that it's important not to use the knees to generate the torque; the torque should come from the body's rotation in coordination with the movement of the shoulders/arms and hips/legs. Like I say it's not a very practical kick--to counter it all you have to do is step out of the way or plow into the guy while he's in the middle of his spin--but good for forms competition and demos, and good for learning fine points of balance while moving on a rotational plane.

After you master the red "x", the next step is a red "m"; and harder still is the red "w", which performed by doing a red "m" while standing on your head (per an old Sesame Street episode: "One line going down--one line going up--one line going down--one line going up: yep, that's our suspect." "No, you've got it all wrong! I'm not a "w", I'm an "m"--I'm standing on my head!")

Hey, I was on dialup at home just last year when DSL finally came out to me.
It does still work... heck, it wasn't all that long ago when we were doing this stuff on 2400bps modems and chatting on BBS's ...

On Compu$erve, 2400 bps was too pricey! I stayed at 300 bps for chatting purposes...
To: RMDupree
*praying silently for a 4 cylinder with no pick-up* You know that is much more dangerous! At least with plenty of pick-up I can gas it and get out of *anything* :-)
