Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I wasn't making a judgment, just saying there's something I've never seen. Weddin' boots. It sounds very Texan, somehow. Which is cool.

The bride isn't wearing them in this picture, but the attendant is....

Boots... and hats. Very very Texan, in my amatuer opinion!

I wonder if the boots would go with Hair's hobbit-dress?

Good thing you qualified that with 'which is cool'. ;D
Non of the weddings I have been to in Texas had boots but I can picture it. Would make more sense than the foot torture devices women often claim are shoes.

I dunno... those high boots would hurt my feet. But I'd wear tennis shoes to my own wedding if I could.

Nice to see you around, you haven't been by often enough.

I haven't been to that many weddings in my whole life, but two had the bride in white cowboy boots...one in Texas, and one here in Oklahoma. It's to be expected.

LOL!!

Ugh, it's almost six. I'm going home finally.

Only apparently everyone there has strep throat, so I'm a little scared to go.

Women down South, maybe.... goggling at the imagery... I've never seen a bride in boots up here

It was a popular look in the 70's and 80's. Gals wore Gunny Sax brand dresses with lace up high heel white boots. Gunny Sax was sorta Victorian country if you can imagine how that would look. I was trying to find a image online, but I didn't have any luck.

I just finished the first episode of the Kyoto Arc. Whoah! :) As soon as the episode started I noticed the animation in the opening sequence had taken it to another level in terms of realism and choreography--it looked more like an action film than a cartoon. Then they started in with the action and we finally got to see Kenshin when he was the Manslayer without the Reverse-Blade Sword--he was a real one-man army, wasn't he? That Atami (sp?) character Kenshin almost fought in the beginning (the one who didn't fight because he was sick) looks to be a good rival in future episodes. That guy who beat Sano was also very impressive, and his martial technique was interesting--saw him using some Aikido, that I did. Just when I thought the villians couldn't get any tougher, they turned it up a notch! Very cool :) How many episodes is the Kyoto Arc?

'afternoon...

Freepin' has been sparse...new job (same company) but on the road all day visiting customers instead of in an office with a 'puter.

Jen, a girl-friend (not girlfriend!) of mine married another friend and wore tennies under the dress. It was floor-length and no one knew until much later. :)

I seem to have picked up a sore throat over the weekend, too, which I suspect I got from my aunt from Milwaukee. Must be something going around.

Several of the brides maids in that wedding complained about their shoes and I said they should have done the tennies thing since they were floor length dresses. Apparently they had been short sighted enough that dress length was sized for heels.

Ahh! no spoilers!. I own a good chunk of kenshin but I have not gotten around to buying the rest. Great stuff but it took back seat to some other acquisitions and I have not gotten back to it.

Sorry, didn't mean to give away any spoilers to anyone who hasn't watched it yet! :) But I will say the episodes I'm at now are the best part so far :)
