A sudden tree or standing stone

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;

Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone

Tree and flower and leaf and grass,

A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Sand and stone and pool and dell,

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,

Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,

I am going to have a nervous breakdown.You just gave me flashbacks of when I used to commute for an hour and a half on the city bus--I do not miss that experience! You able to read a book while you're commuting? Usually I was able to read something, but sometimes it would be so crowded there was no room to even pull out a book, and then it was twice as bad.
