Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I WAS STRUCK WITH THE THOUGHT THAT IF I WAS STILL PRACTICING MY HABITS AS I DID WHEN I FIRST STARTED READING THE HOBBIT, THESE MUNCHIES WOULD HAVE HIT THE SPOT.

Ha!!!!

I love his all caps...Makes you sit up and listen.

Good morning!!

I had a great weekend...vey busy.

Gotta chicken bocking outside...Benny Hen from the sounds of it. Musta laid an egg.

I built (note I say I BUILT) a new little coop for the babies last night...they slept out in it last night, the first night out of their tote. It's cute, has a metal roof, but needs to be painted with some nice daisys and such...

Also, I went to a homeschool party this weekend and RODE a HORSE! The owner of the horse even said "You've ridden before, haven't you!" It's been years, but I remembered how...and this was a very good horse!

I'll post pictures in the Saddle Club thread here in a bit...if that is ok?

We finally dragged in from Pittsburgh about 5:20 this morning. Had to get back up at 9:30 to get Clare up for a doctor's appt. She's gone back to bed now.

She enjoyed going to the movie the other night. The theater hadn't found her wallet before we left town. I'm going to call them back this afternoon to see if they ever found it. There wasn't much in there, just the key card, but it wasn't a big deal. She like the wallet a lot, but she can get another one.

I have the picture of the two of you, and as soon as I download the pics from the weekend, I'll post it! Thanks for taking her out, she had a great time.

David's graduation was long, but fun. When he walked across the stage, diploma in hand to shake the Dean's hand, one of his friends played a couple of measures of the 'power up' music from Metroid Prime on a boom box! We just laughed out loud, and the CS advisor, who called out names and greeted each graduate hugged David and asked, "How did you rig that?" It was fun. The class put together a video presentation for the Advisor that was really cute. They like him a lot because he knows every student and spent a lot of time working with them.

They say "Wild Blueberries" on the package, though I don't know how they could be, really. Guess they started with wild varieties? In any case, they're small and very tasty.

Do you have Wyman's Wild Maine Frozen Blueberries up there? Those are very good. I like the little ones better in baked goods, and the big ones fresh in cereals, etc.

Of course, he just HAD to announce on stage that he'd given me a wild thyme...

ROTFL! Did you slap him? ;o)

Yeah, that's what I have...they're very small, and come in a ziplock bag, which is nice. They also had blackberries or raspberries, I think. In any case, they'll tide me over until berries start showing up at the farmer's market.

First farmer's market of the year is next Saturday! I can't wait! Right now it will probably be just plants rather than fresh produce, but I'm still looking forward to going. I MIGHT try to get a potted tomato plant. I'd like to see if I could grow one that way.

He was on the other side of the stage...besides, everyone knew it was a bad pun, 'cause he told them that I'd been trying to find some for awhile.

Still...brat! ;-)
