Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
I don't think it did... that may have been the missing element that kept the movie from being really engaging. But you know, it's interesting, for a movie in which the gods and goddesses themselves didn't appear, they sure did get talked about a lot. It seemed every other sentence had the word "gods" in it, or the name of a particular god or goddess.
Another annoying aspect of having the gods removed from the story was that some elements no longer made sense. Achilles, for instance, didn't have any special abilities beyond his fighting prowess... which made it seem very odd when Paris shoots him in the heel, near the end of the movie. If one wasn't familiar with the story, it would leave one wondering "Why shoot him there? And why did he react to it so strongly?"
Oh man! Abigail has her days and nights switched! Think I gotta change that, pronto.
Time to go vote, again. This time it is for the sale of alcohol within city limits. Mind you, this is not for the sale of hard liquor, just beer and wine, methinks.
I don't want to bother with it, but I feel that I really need to get out of the house :-) It's a good excuse.... Gotta do my civic duty ya know, heh.
Here's to the first time to use the stroller! Cheers! LOL...
What a... stupid... way of doing things. So the heroes are invoking nonexistent gods and getting wounded strangely for no reason?
My little sister just started her new job, working concessions at the movie theatre. She was thrilled to be able to mock the fangirls last night. That's her favorite hobby.
That's what I said.
Brief break from running errands. We got a huge cake for tomorrow. It barely fit in the back seat of my car, and I had to strap it in.
It's about to pour. Hope it gets done before I head downtown to meet Suzi. That's going to be fun.
I agree. The gods are essential characters in Homer's story; if they cut them out, it's not the same story, IMO, it just becomes a pseudo-docudrama--"pseudo" because it's paradoxically still based solely on Homer despite gutting Homer's story.
I'm about to go run my own errands in 5 minutes here. Have fun at your Mini-Moot!--hope you manage to miss the rain! :)
I was so impressed, I emailed JDC Logistics. This is their reply.

Back in October the USMC approached us to see if we could help promote recruitment for them in the Midwest area of the United States. We quickly said YES and the rest is history. IF you go to the actual USMC web site you will see a wonderful article they wrote about our company. We did a total of 100 trailers for them... all brand new Great Danes. We also became active members of ESGR " Employer Support Guard & Reserve" and received and award from the D.O.D. We are in the process of changing over our web site and we should have our Marine Corps Graphics up very soon. Our company maintains a very open support of our service members and we have this openly displayed on all of our truck book advertising as well. I am happy you gave such a positive feedback on our trailers. Thanks

Wow, that's really neat.
Hmmm....looks like the thread is dead. :-(
Well, for what it's worth, happy Saturday afternoon Hobbit Hole!
The AOL merger is being handled by The Cabal of ONE.
Good thinking on SP 1 for the Personal Cloaking Poster.
If only we can hedge our bets and corner 75% of the market for it, or better, we'll have no competition worth talking about.
LOL!
The Mustang isn't quite as radar stealthy as an F-22, -117, or B-2.
But with enough radar absorbent material replacing the body panels, it may be able to reduce the detection range.
(And it may be able to survive dent inducing bumps without getting dents..)
Hey!--who plugged up the hole?
Happy Saturday afternoon! :) I just got back in. Noticed there's a virtual viewable movie on tonight on AMC: Capricorn One, a bad 70s SF film featuring Elliot Gould and costarring OJ Simpson in his pre-Cochraine days. This follows Star Trek III which I may also catch. "So you're not gonna give me Genesis?. . .Okey-doke!" :)
That's a pretty neat-lookin' sword on the side of that trailer--I like it! :)
You mean we haven't purchased our competition yet? [Picks up phone and starts chewing out our Front Company Acquisition Department, J. Jonah Jameson style: "Parker!. . ."]
ROFL! Great pic :)
Oh darn..
Ah yes, whatever happened to the One Shoes?
One shoe, two shoe. . .
Red shoe, blue shoe. . .
