Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Realism is the style I usually prefer to use, so that class sounds very interesting to me. If he assigns a textbook please let me know the name so I can check it out.

I agree with you on comic-book figurative artists--some who come to my mind that I'd put in that category are Burne Hogarth, Wally Wood, Al Williamson, Hal Foster, Joe Kubert, Frank Frazetta, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, John Buscema, Gene Colan, and John Byrne. BTW you might enjoy this site: Comic Art and Graffix Gallery: Artist Biographies.

We did eventually let the boss in, mostly cuz we like him.

Had a laugh today... disgruntled ex-boss and his lawyers claim the company is worth $15 million. Our lawyers fired back with something along the lines of "You can have it for 14 right now". Who knew, lawyers with a sense of humor.

But sheesh, it's been 11 months now and this guy won't go away. Frankly he's more likely to go postal.

Yawn. Spent the evening with family. Going to bed now. No anime tonight for Jen.

I'm afraid to see Troy. The fangirls might eat me.

Besides, I don't want Homer without the gods. It's just wrong. - Only, I haven't seen it, so how was that? Did it work?

I suppose those guys are holding some version of the FAL, do you think?

Those are FALs. Lots of them had wooden furniture.

How much is that kit, WM? That might be handy in my Girl Scout Troop First Aid kit, and for my son's Boy Scout Troop kit.

Far as I can see, the Bahamian was built in Mississippi.

Where in MS, Ingalls Shipyard? We can see the gantrys from that place across the Pascagoula River from my Mama's house.

Should we be asking guys like Steve about this?

I can see where that would be useful in general. However speaking for the 22 of us we have 10 Trained Combat lifesavers with fully stocked bags. This is something our Commander actually considered before we left. We generally have one in each truck in addition to our standard first aid kit. This could prove useful for others whose commanders didnt have the forsight to realize that people were getting hurt here. Thanks again for your thoughts and concern. Steve

Good morning!

Hope your day turns out to be as lovely as mine is promising to be right now. :)

It's a lovely day, in any case! May storm later, but it's warm, and alll the leaves are pretty much out. I love this time of year - when we went to play for that open mic we took the scenic route so we could look at all the colors. There are sooo many shades of green, and the sun was just going down, and everything was reflected in all the rivers and streams we passed...it was just glorious. Even my rather stoic brother blurted out "BOY are we lucky to live here!" about halfway through the trip.

We're playing a little for a church luncheon later. Just for fifteen minutes or so while people get seated. Then tomorrow is the big scary gig...but I can't wait for that paycheck!

And for now...I'm gonna take a shower, have a nice omelet for breakfast, and then get some gardening done!

I bought one to check out, although I have no plans for any traumatic injuries with arterial bleeding.

I'd be happy to enlist some volunteers fer a trail run... got a few candidates in mind...

I've heard about these QuikClots... they're the s#!t...

I had a dream with you and your family in it, g'nad... not sure exactly what was going on but I think there was someone who needed thumping and you showed up to take care of it.

Drat, I overslept. Now it's run around like mad until time for mooting with Suzi and Clare.

I'm yawning today 'cause I stayed up too late watching Kenshin :) Sounds like you'll be running errands and Mini-Mooting today. For my part I'll be pretty much out for the afternoon running errands and at church, so I probably won't post much 'til tonight. But when you get a chance, tell me what's the deal with the disgruntled ex-boss--don't think I've heard that story. BTW you have a Kenshin report, and probably some heroine drawings coming later tonight.

We received the package a-okay. Just opened it last night. PE was a bit perplexed as to how all the bottles would fit, but we figured it out... eventually :-)

(It is such a cool gadget, PE may not let me play with it)

I'm glad to hear you have such an upstanding CO. Like the Marines, the Guard and Reserve have to work smarter, because they have to do more with less.
