Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ramius, looks like the Bahamians got rid of their old 95's.
Now they've got 2 of these things, plus some other stuff, including a few Boston Whalers.

That's quite a navy, IMO, for a nation whose population is less than 300,000 souls.

What's new with you? You done any new art projects lately? I'm starting to get a feel for the anime, but it's slow in coming! Right now I'm working on improving my sense of vertical perspective for this scene I'm doing where I want to create a sense of the viewer looking down from/up at a looming figure, so that's what I've been practicing.

The cloaking device is not unlike using the shoes of power to become invisible...

Very interesting... that except for the treatment of the stack, that looks very much like the 110' patrol boat that the USCG is using:

Above is the CGC Orcas, from Coos Bay, OR.

Sorry. But I can't help but laugh when I remember reading the original post at Entmoot!

Good evening all...
Rose and I went to see Troy earlier. I don't think it was quite as bad as many of the reviewers have said, but it was vaguely disappointing. It left me wanting to watch a better movie....

Yes, there are over 700 Bahamian islands, spread out over something like 500 miles...impossible for a little population to have the resources to patrol it properly.
The USCG normally also has cutters in Bahamian waters as well + I have seen US Customs vessels and aircraft operating in the Bahamas.

That was definitely one of my Top 10 favorite episodes :) Let's see, what else:
Daffy as Robin Hood
Bugs in Sherwood Forest
Pete Puma ("How many lumps?")
Bugs and the Aborigine ("Unga-bunga-bunga!")
Duck Season!
The Rabbit of Seville
What's Opera, Doc?
Bugs vs. the Army
The Singing Frog
Other nominees? :)

Far as I can see, the Bahamian was built in Mississippi.
Yes, they do look similar.

Update on the neighborhood. Apparently the raid was about 11-ish this morning. The guy tried to get away and a policeman (or FBI) rammed his car. Then he apparently pulled a gun and that's when they shot him.
I know who it is now, although I didn't know him well. But he's the neighbor that ended up in court because of his rottweilers that kept getting out (killed a neighbor's cat).
Apparently his four-year-old son was in the car. They don't know where the mother is.

It left me wanting to watch a better movie....Like LotR, for instance? :) BTW, how did the warfare scenes in Troy compare with TTT and RotK?
Hey, do you remember Marvel's fantasy/SF magazine Epic? I found some back issues of that at an antique store today for $1 each--some stories by Moorcock and Ellison in them, not a bad find. Also found back issues of the Weirdworld, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, and Marvel Preview magazines, along with Adventure Comics featuring Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #336 (from 1965) and a 70s DC horror comic called The Witching Hour.
