That's quite a navy, IMO, for a nation whose population is less than 300,000 souls.

I guess that makes sense given where they are--naval security must encompass virtually all of their security issues.

Yes, there are over 700 Bahamian islands, spread out over something like 500 miles...impossible for a little population to have the resources to patrol it properly.

The USCG normally also has cutters in Bahamian waters as well + I have seen US Customs vessels and aircraft operating in the Bahamas.
