Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I probably should know where that's from, but I don't... is it from something?

Never Cry Wolf was a cool movie!--a little liberal thematically, but awesome photography, and I like that Eskimo character with the gap-tooth who smiles and says, "Good idea" :)

No, not from anything. Just makin' stuf up. Testing out how "Heinlein base" sounds on the radio. Seems to me that it works OK. :-)

We've got different views of famous from most people, don't we?
And absolutely, the first moonbase, where Luna City will one day be, should be Heinlein Moon Base. After all, he was the man who sold the moon, right?

Awww, you fooled me. Some SF has actually used "Heinlein Base" either for a moonbase or a Marsbase, so I thought you might be quoting something.

I caught a news report about the Mars explorations a couple of weeks ago that happened to mention Syria Planum... I caught myself wondering if they found the secret Psi Corps base there...
That's a Babylon 5 reference, don't worry if you don't get it...

We ought to suggest a testosterone-fueled action flick for Hair and ecurbh to watch, to balance the scales so to speak...

He told me he's lookin' forward to Fried Green Tomatoes... If it gets down all the way to Steel Magnolias then we will know we've lost him forever. No amount of even intravenous Dirty Harry could likely bring him back.

We ought to suggest a testosterone-fueled action flick for Hair and ecurbh to watch, to balance the scales so to speak...You mean other than Willow? :) Hmmm--how about:
Maltese Falcon
Sons of Katie Elder
The Magnificent Seven
Dr. No
Dirty Harry
Enter the Dragon
Rocky
Conan
Lethal Weapon
Die Hard
Robocop
Rapid Fire
The Contract Killer
Starship Troopers
? Other nominees?--this should be interesting. . .
