Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I bet one or the other would help her stop craving bread, after the first few weeks. I have will-power for the first time in I don't know HOW long. Ever?I've experienced an increase in willpower after cutting out certain foods, too--nice feeling, isn't it? :) I think that may be part of her problem, too: she doesn't really have much willpower IMO.

I dunno... I'm kinda spooked at the idea that it wasn't dead.

Well, there's always the 'possessed' chair.
It starts to *cough* levitate and play Rammstein backwards while copious amounts of stage smoke billow out.

I scared one so bad once that it fell out of a tree.
The thud as it hit the ground was hysterical.

Afterwards, eventually.
But at the time, no.
But he DID have QUITE a hard landing head first.

C3PO used one of our possessed chairs in Return of the Jedi when he was talking to the Ewoks and Luke levitated him, so he can give a testimonial as to the effectiveness of our products. And then there's the whoopie cushion chair :)

Bear; the flies were a good tip off it weren't playing possum. :-) I've seen it a few times, one time Samantha brought one up to the rear door, LSA almost let Sam in with it, but decided the possum should stay outdoors. Turned out the possum was just doing just that. Sam laid it down and it scampered off. But it was limp as a dishrag while Sam was hold it in her mouth.

(sigh) I don't have the means to ensure deadness.
Nasty thing probably is still alive. Just to p*ss me off.

Fortunately, I got kinda a blocked view by honeysuckle on the back fences. :-) Is it too late for me to plant some honeysuckle or some morning glories?

Well, if he had flies for best friends and personal assitants, then he was more than likely one with the universe.
(The one who fell from the tree eventually met a truck with Rockport size 10 soles, er, tread.)

the flies were a good tip off it weren't playing possumI hope so! I didn't think a faker would attract flies... but it didn't have any obvious wounds, and it was positioned exactly like the one in the pic above, so I just wasn't sure.

Gnomes are shorter and less useful. Dwarves drink more beer. The differences are obvious.

A good compost pile doesn't have to smell bad, but it does take a bit of time to keep it balanced and cooking the right way. Yes it was an excellent thought. Just a bit too early. I hope to get a composter (right term?) built this summer. It's on thuh list.
