Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sounds like a good candidate for "Wear you Gun to Work" day. I think this thing needs to go national. :-)

Stoned goats? What, exactly, is the world coming to?

I'm with ya.

When do ya want to start this "Wear your Gun to Work" day? I'm thinkin' it would be a nice touch to do it on my birthday! :-)

Course, we'd have to wait several months but that gives us plenty of time to publicize and enlist aid to make this a national effort. So, is March 22 okay with you? :-D

I don't know. But, I bet the goat's happy. A happy pet is a healthy pet. :-)

What was the date of the "shot heard 'round the world" at the old north bridge? Seems to me that this would be the appropriate day for such a thing.

A few years ago I was visiting our Boston office and took a weekend to go off exploring. One of my stops was the Old North Bridge. I'm tellin' ya... you cannot stand there on that bridge and not feel it. You can see the British on one shore, and the militia on the other shore. You can hear them. You can still hear the shot.

That was a big moment for me. Almost as important as my visit to the USS Constitution, but that's another story.

Hmmm... we can't do it for my birthday huh?

~pout~

Well, I guess if it can't be on my birthday then that will have to work.

Whoa. Also the day the compound burned and the OK city bombing day.

Also, incidentally, my daughter and son-in-law's wedding anniversary.
