Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

The Nana stuff will be a lot better once we finally get everything resolved in NC with the sale of the house, disposition of the crap, etc.
She's actually well enough to start helping/doing things around the house. (and the "chair" will be gone vey soon),
She was well enough earlier this week to "start" my compost pile. I came in and couldn't figger out what the smell was. Had Jr. take out the garbage, I checked the fridge. Finally saw that Nana had some old salad, some coffee grounds and who knows what else sittin' on some plastic on the counter. It was for me to put on my plants.
I had to 'splain to her that I live in a subdivision and I can just go putting rotten garbage on my plants. I told her that, no, I don't have a compost heap yet. I thanked her for her thoughtfulness and threw the stuff away.

We're going to be starting Autumn on a homeschool Pre-K program from ABEKA next fall. We've joined RIGHT (Rhode Island Guild of Homes Teachers), and will be going into her Kindergarten program as soon as she's ready.
But, I have the same concerns as you. Jess is really strong in Science, and I'm reasonably good at English and History, but we both stink at Math. Luckily, we found our local community center in Cranston offers adult-ed courses on several different subjects. When the time comes, she and I can enroll for a 6-week crash course on, say, advanced algebra or trigonometry.
That might be something you can check into when the time comes?

Did you hear the 'rumor' that DEVO has been released from their mental ward and is going on tour this year?

Morning everyone! (actually it's afternoon, already, isn't it?!)
My first concert was Motley Crue....*sigh*
My second concert was Monsters of Rock - Metallica, Scorpions, Dokken, Van Halen Hagar....
I was a headbangin' fool back then. :-)

Should've put the sarcasm tag on the end of that line...

I listened to Rush and kept to myself.

I went to one of those Monsters of Rock concerts... maybe the same one, Van Hagar was there.
I went to a lot of those head banger types concerts young.... but the best concerts were later, in college, when we all had season tickets at an outdoor amphitheater where we saw all kinds of mostly mellower shows. Some really good shows I wouldn't have seen by themselves, but saw because of the season tickets.

Really? Alas, my summer concert fund is wrapped up in Rush's tour.
Just remember - "Devo has feelings too".

When the time comes, she and I can enroll for a 6-week crash course on, say, advanced algebra or trigonometry. To me that would be a waste of time and resources. I didn't do those things when I had all my brain cells.

If the idea is to share great lit thru film...DON'T use the newest "Count". They changed it. A lot.
Probably the best film adaptation I've seen came out in the 70's with Richard Chamberlain...but you'll have to look for it.
