Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

A sudden tree or standing stone

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Shout...shout...let it all out

LOL!

"Everybody wants to rule the world. . ."

(Hey, Darksheare, I bet that would make a good BSIC theme song!)

LOL...every time I hear "I wanna know what love is" by Foreigner (?), I think of the first time I heard it.

ROFL! I remember I recorded that off the radio onto a tape on which I also put Survivor's "Burning Heart" (from "Rocky IV"), REO Speedwagon's "I Can't Fight This Feeling", and Chicago's "Hard Habit to Break", among other stuff probably. The Foreigner song was the last song on the tape and got cut off at the end, so I can distinctly remember hearing it ending halfway through one of the lines--ROFL!

PS: Oh yeah, I also had Duran Duran's "A View to a Kill" on that tape :)

woo-HOO!

and the crowd chants

"We're number four-teen!
"We're number four-teen!
"We barely suck!"

Now, where can I put that trophy?

What did you say? Wrecked who?

Ah, yes, thanks for the reminder. Of course my poetry isn't as good:

The Road goes ever on and on,
On and on and on and on,
And on and on and on anon,
I think I'll sign this one "Anon."

I believe Bakshi was considering doing a Hobbit adaptation using Tron animation techniques. . .

We ain't near as chatsey as we usedta be...

Well, msdrby has an excuse... and me too! - Our router came and we are both back on internet! - Boy what a test of a relationship this was... one of us on internet and the other wantin' to be on internet! ;~D I am addicted to freep more than he is... but he has this payin' web page job to do that takes precedence!

Gave me a chance to get those desks painted, and they look real good. Still look more aqua because of the flash, but in here they look dark green.

Shameless vanity consisting of random thoughts designed to confuse and/or amuse the reader:

As soon as he heard Ari Fleischer was going to be on Jeopardy with him, Aaron Brown should have just conceded.
My mom's cake was always thick, heavy and moist; so I don't care so much for light, airy cake.
Of course, now I'm"thick, heavy and moist", particularly in warm weather :)
Do you have (1) a career, (2) a job, or (3) basic life support? On that scale, I'm a 3.
Remember when "crack pipe" meant you had to call the plumber?
I wonder whether Hermione will say "oculis reparo" again.
None of my cats was ever "aloof."
There was some really ugly wallpaper going around in the 1930s. Was the Depression that depressing?
Cars were better between FDR and Nixon, IMHO. That is probably unconnected with US politics.

In the bottom picture that desk looks so nice and green and bare--makes me remember when I could see the bottom of mine, before it was all covered in random papers :)
