Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Maybe Briah will be the one to break the cycle and NOT be 'just like her father'.
Heaven forbid if she doesn't.
I'd hate to see her doing some of what my brother did growing up.
*ugh*
Of course, the idea of a 'reverse Kevin' is kinda weird.

Gimme some of that slow sometime, will ya? Semi-monthly payrolls ran today, so I must have have run about 17 of them.
Add to that, lots of rumblings in upper management these days and it looks like the hatchet is coming down again soon. Rumors are that at least 6 out of 20 payroll reps are getting the boot, so you know I'm sweating...
I do a great job and all of my clients love me, but I am the last one hired, which usually equals first one fired.
It's not because anyone is doing a bad job really, it's all about "streamlining" and since we're going on to web-based products where the clients are going to be entering their own new hires, pay rate changes, etc. That means that payroll reps will soon be doing ONLY payroll and they figure one payroll rep can do the work of two if data entry was out of the picture.
*fingers crossed that it's all just rumors*

Hey chica!!
Yeah, everything's pretty calm here. My mom and I are a bit stressed out because the bank that holds our mortgage refuses to release the claim money State Farm paid us to fix our kitchen - the whole black mold thing.
Washington Mutual wants us to fix the kitchen first and THEN give us the money, but how can we fix the kitchen without the money? Aggravating!!
Especially considering that the bank has no right to that money. My mom owns 75% of the home at this point and has fought to settle this claim for over a year and a half! We finally got the check from State Farm and needed to get the bank's endorsement on the check in order to cash it. Well, as soon as the bank got their hands on it, they won't let it go.
Bastiges!!!!!!

No, I have complete faith that my job is secure and if something happens, it's only because there's a better one waitin for me! *grin*
