Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
A sudden tree or standing stone
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We have an annual family reunion that weekend, everyone who will be at the reunion, was at grandpa's funeral. The people are already planned, and the event is set in stone. The only thing to set would be the Plan of the Day. That sounds like a great plan, plus the newbaby will be there, as well!!

Thanks! I just had company here from back home. One of those old friends with whom anything and everything both important and trivial must be discussed - and laughed about!Sounds like a good visit!
Just finished raking here. The grass clippings from lawnmowing had accumulated and then it rained last night, so that had to be taken care of before it rains again tonight, as it's looking to. There was a nice storm here last night. How's it down by you?

It's warm and sunny here. I have 3 loads of laundry hanging on the line. Washed the sheets on both beds and the breeze is blowing nicely to dry them. All the windows are open here and it's a tad warm in the house but I ain't gonna sit out in the yard and read quite yet today.... gotta wait till the sun goes down a little. Gettin' over sunburn.

I've been tryin' all day to find a pic of something we saw yesterday on the way to church. Crossing Richmond's "Willey Bridge" (yes, named after the father-in-law of Kathleen) there's a dam on the upper side. Dam is about 20 ft. high.
There was a pontoon boat hangin' over the dam. About half over, half on the upper side. My assumption is it got loose and the current took it there. Saw the rescue vehicles at one point, but didn't see or hear any news of it. So I reckon no one was in danger.
See y'all later.

That's a NICE time to visit CO!! Yeah... the one thing is, this kinda confirms what I was hoping to avoid... I don't think Animoot's gonna work. I'd still like to do it at some point, but this summer doesn't look good. I dunno, maybe over fall break or something, depending on the money situation.
Drat. Rosie, I'll at least be getting you some anime sooner or later - couple technical difficulties, but it'll show up eventually, I promise, even if I just have to loan you my disks.

Sorry about the technical difficulties. I should be able to get everyone their own copy eventually, but it looks like I will have to get some new hardware first, as the discs are bigger than I anticipated (7 gb). Meanwhile, Rosie, we'll arrange something to make sure you get to see the discs.

However...turns out it wasn't BULLET proof. You can buy/build bulletproof/explosionproof mailboxes. They are vey expensive, but bring a certain amount of satisfaction with ownership.
Slobs who bash mailboxes painted by th'girl with an American flag on it are just one step above terrorists. I think caning, as practiced in Singapore, is suitable.
Even the sturdiest mailboxes can be fortified by building a brickwork shell around them. They seem to be built into a wall.
And for those slobs who bring a truck and some chain (that sounds so much like work, why don't they have REAL jobs?), there's always Mr. Claymore waiting in the bushes.

It really hurts me to watch my mom with her mom, because her mom is so mean and hurtful and spiteful.SSQ's Mom (Granny) had to endure that from HER mother, too. Granny's sister had married a nice man who became a doctor and became rather well off. Granny married a wonderful man and they struggled for years. SSQ's grandmother never let up about how terrible it was that they had to do without so many things. Even by the time I'd met them, and they were comfortable, her mother STILL didn't let up! Drove me nuts, but his mom wasn't bitter about it. She knew her mother loved her, and that criticizing her was just her way. I wouldn't have put up with it, but I only saw her about once a year, and the old lady wasn't MY Mama, so I didn't have to. I felt bad for Granny, though.

Well, this summer was looking iffy for Animoot anyway because of the remodel plans, but maybe during one of your school breaks next year. By that time, we'll have lots more room and maybe a BIG a$$ tv on which to watch it!
Did you see that one of Clare's friends is going to Japan tomorrow? Her mom said today that the company might even move them over there for 3 years! In that case, Clare and I could go over and have a place to stay during the visit!

Wow, that is cool. I'd love to visit another, civilized, country.
Sorry again about Animoot, I was hoping it'd work out... sigh.... btw if you guys want to visit Colorado you can have my sofa, once I'm out there. At least Saturday is still on!
Um, I don't want to sound greedy or anything, but can you ask Clare - I think she mentioned having Fruits Basket anime - if it's like the Scrapped Princess disks and can have cookies made, whether it would be possible for me to get cookies? I'm going mad waiting for book 3 in June and I think there's 14 manga or something...

One of my cousins sez he wants to hook the DVD- and TV-tuner-equipped 'puter up to a honkin' huge plasma, for 'putin', gamin', and watchin'. Says he'd settle for a high-def high-lumens projector. I say he's dreaming on both counts.
