The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread
Posted on 04/26/2004 12:06:41 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog
Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads
. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts
look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in
. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics
land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news
. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Well it's my own fault. I have great respect for this man's knowlege and beliefs but I know him. I should have just said that's ok when he called me out. I saw someone else did too. Stuff like this fine for people that like it but I'm kind of like you. It makes me uncomfortable. I could have said all kinds of good things about my mom but I knew what he was wanting to hear and I wasn't going to lie.

thank you i will try to be on more

I took some the first day we had this thread going, and I looked for them awhile ago, but can't find the disc. I'll take some tomorrow when I ride. I wish I could find that disc tho. There was a lot of water running then and a few places are really pretty, I noticed yesterday they have dried up.

Okie certainly has a spectacular color pattern. I like Dot - she has a kind eye.

I'm getting better, but I'm uncomfortable about somethings. I'm ok if I've got somethin I WANT to say, or if I've got time to plan what to say, but I don't like being put on the spot and have to ad lib.

Okie is Cindy's horse, I just happen to have a picture of him:)
Dot is out of the stud horse that I posted on the first page of this thread. The Buckskin. Her attitude comes from him. Her mother is a good horse too, but she has a problem that I couldn't get fixed in 6 years, and she got dangerous to ride, so now she is a brood mare. I've held off breeding her again to make sure the problem wasn't hereditary but Dot is 4 now and no sign of it. So I'm going to try to get her bred again this year.

Hey, where do you host your pictures too? Choctawsquaw just called me and wants to post pictures. The place we use we got when we bought the camera, and I don't know where to tell her to go.

Does anyone out there have a clue what to do for a dog who is itchy ALL the time. I've tried Benedryl, she's about 20lbs, I gave her 1/2 teaspoon enough? I tried the shots from the vet they worked some but didn't last as long as he said they would. He said 4 wks, she was itching again in 2. I've tried numerous kinds of shampoo, but I think they make her itch worse. Some days her skin is real pink others not so bad. But she is usually biting at the end of her back where her tail is. She also has goopy eyes some in the morning. Can dogs be allergic to grass? If so how in the world do you help that?

I found the name of a website that lets you host pictures. Click on this link and sign up. They let you store pictures for free:

My kids were in 4H and Ag and showed pigs. There was one that we got really attatched to. She would follow the kids around and knew when the school bus was coming and to my oldests digust would get out of the pen and sit by the mailbox and wait for them. I was going to buy her at the auction because I thought she was just too smart for the breakfast table but the other person bidding assured me he wanted her for breeding.

When yall figure the picture thing out, teach me too, ok? :')
To: CindyDawg; HairOfTheDog

I host mine at snapfish... www.snapfish.com.
It's free for me through my ISP... I think it is free for everyone, at least for awhile. Easy to upload pictures.

Well, I'm going to ask Eddie where he tried to host, but not right now. Survivor on. 2 hourssssss. Yawn. Am I the only one that thinks these people don't know what real survival is?

Click on that link I sent CS, you can store pictures there for free.
Once you get them on there, you get the URL code off the picture, and type it into the post reply box with the html. Which is, img src="
http://www.whatever" You have to use those < > at the front and back of that.
The above is not really a link, I just don't know how to do it without it coming out as one. It won't take you anywhere.
I don't know if this makes sense, but it's the best I can do.
