Thread III: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311311/posts |

Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads . And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
A few of us thought it would be interesting and informative to have a chat thread where we can share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. We may not ~always~ have a lot of activity, but when we do, it will be fun. I will put a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I will also develop a ping list for horse threads that are of interest. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
I am hoping this thread will be a fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.
"I don't know."
I think it was because of the neighbor guy that did not believe his story at all. Or there was another murder story very similar.
That seems pretty low to me. I would compare it to the little town I lived in in California.
"He's a horse that belongs to someone I know. Apparently he's screwy because of they way that he was ridden"
This reminds me of when I rode a horse at a gas station in Tennessee. Very bad idea. Do NOT ride an unfamiliar horse around a gas station on a busy intersection filled with 18 wheelers.

I agree, and hope that you did not get hurt. Lots of strange noises, sights and sounds to a horse at a gas station.
no, i didnt get hurt. Once I got on and walked around a bit I noticed that this was a one-man's horse. This guy actually had no idea what I was talking about when I said I rode english. I think he had this horse as a pet and that is it. I asked him horse questions and he had no idea what i was talking about.
Good Morning!
Trash is home so I will ride him this morning.

Gotta work.... Drizzling rain here, which is good for pasture growing.... Lousy for starting cleanup in the woods... :~\
Oh. OK:). Yeah I knew that.
There is a fairly new association that started because so many people wanted to get back to the Foundation look of the original stocky QH's. Old Foundation Quarter Ass.
I think alot wanted the "mind" of the Foundation QH's more then the confirmation. I think they found adding TB to the breed made them a bit more high strung, and they wanted to get back to a using cow horse, more then racing horse. At least that has been my impression.
I just thought it interesting that Harley, under the criteria of the Foundation QH Ass. could be registered with them. But he really didn't have the confirmation, has a great mind, but I never worked him around cows, so I'm not sure how cowy he would be. The old TB that was in the QH's showed up in him, IMO:)

*nod*
*giggle* If they think that the Foundation horses have only a quarter ass, I'd hate to see the horse with an entire one.
(couldn't resist :))
Also, I've heard, altho don't know first hand, that at a Foundation QH show, a horse has to perfom in a using class BEFORE it can be shown in halter. I think that is a great improvement over the AQHA show. What good is a strictly "halter horse", which is about all AQHA halter horses are good for. Too little feet, too big bodied to really do hard work.

LOL
Took me a minute to get this:)

Speaking of too little feet and too big body:) did I mention that the owner of Reba sold her to a guy who is going to send her to a calf roping trainer.
Becky
I son't know if that's true, but I certainly agree with it. Halter classes are supposed to highlight the breed's best breeding stock, not pretty model ponies good only to sit on shelves and be looked at.
Trying to remember all the topics that have been going on:)
Heard anything from Bob about the App.?

Interesting article on the foundation QH movement.
With all the excitement over the mower man, we forgot to call. I'd think we would have called if there was something to it, but I'm going to call tonight.
I'd think HE would have called if there was something to it....
~sipping coffee~
I never even notice alot of those type of mistakes until someone corrects them:)
