The Hobbit Hole VIII - Still round the corner we may meet...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think we might have to go with solid color.

A nice handkerchief linen would be lovely!

Trying to remember...did they pass the verscheisst "assault weapons ban", or did they manage to kill it? Either way didn't they leave the "gun show loophole" open?

Oh dear, I don't know who 'Kaiba' is, so you will definitely have to send pictures

It is a character from Yu Gi Oh. The kids laugh their heads off when they watch it because the English translations take out any dialogue that can possibly be construed as violent! One time they even removed the guns from some characters hands when they were supposed to be shooting!

Isn't the current AWB still set to expire if no action is taken? I wasn't paying real close attention to it!

Oh, my. I've heard of censorship... "Sailor Moon", I believe, was quite inappropriate in the original.

That's why I only watch subtitles!

Okay,I give up!

What's a hobbit hole?

I'm old so that may explain my lack of knowledge.

Another thing,what does ZOT mean?

Hair, did you ever read "A Fire Upon the Deep?"

If not, I think you should, with your love of dogs and creatures.
The main characters are dogs in the book, but it's not at all silly, as it sounds.

I'm sending a copy to my son, who is also an animal lover.

What's a hobbit hole?
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.

It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle. The door opened on to a tube-shaped hall like a tunnel: a very comfortable tunnel without smoke, with panelled walls, and floors tiled and carpeted, provided with polished chairs, and lots and lots of pegs for hats and coats - the hobbit was fond of visitors. The tunnel wound on and on, going fairly but not quite straight into the side of the hill - The Hill, as all the people for many miles round called it - and many little round doors opened out of it, first on one side and then on another. No going upstairs for the hobbit: bedrooms, bathrooms, cellars, pantries (lots of these), wardrobes (he had whole rooms devoted to clothes), kitchens, dining-rooms, all were on the same floor, and indeed on the same passage. The best rooms were all on the left-hand side (going in), for these were the only ones to have windows, deep-set round windows looking over his garden and meadows beyond, sloping down to the river.

ON Free Republic, it is a thread where some very good friends come together chit-chat.

ZOT is a bolt of magical Wizardry that eliminates posters who are not here to promote conservatism, but to disrupt.

I haven't heard of it Sam! - Thanks for the recommendation.

One of my favorite childhood books was "A Dog Named Wolf" where the main characters were husky/wolf dogs.

Hobbit Hole Troop Shipment

Hey everyone, I got my tax return and went out shopping for our guys. This is the stuff I've got to send out now...

These items will be distributed between 5 groups of our guys. I'm fixinta start boxin' 'em up now. If anybody can give me a little help with the postage it would be very much appreciated. But, don't take away from the knife project to do that. The knives represent safety!

Well, two of the shipments don't go to Iraq, so they should be good anyway I guess.
