Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I recently read a sci fi thing called "A Fire Upon the Deep," Vernor Vinge, that SuziQ recommended. Now you need to read "A Deepness in the Sky". It's kind of a prequel to "Fire Upon the Deep". I liked it as well, if not better than "Fire". I hope he writes an immediate sequel to "Deepness". I really want to know what happened to all the characters!!

I've been on the Light Side since my first election, '84, thanks. Just like to see what the Dark Side's up to-- lately. I've worked in psych wards when the meds were late. Not a nice place, especially at Detroit Receiving, where they keep the most serious nutcases.
I felt the same way after five minutes at DU, but it also left me feeling dirty because most of the inmates there choose to be that way. That's why I'll never set foot in there again.

but most anime chicks seem to wear a lot less than I'm comfortable in. Do what Soupy does, and go as a guy! I was up until 4am re-doing her 'Kaiba' costume. The 'skirt' I'd put on it before was not long enough around the waist, so I took it off, cut in half, then made a new back panel for it and sewed the two other pieces to it on either side, putting in pockets as I did. It turned out very nice. I used an ivory satin for the finished side, and lined it with a gorgeous cranberry satin!
I'll have to get a good picture of her in it and send it to you.

We don't pluralize adjectives: Dubya is not going to fix the Dems "Littles Reds Wagons" even if the "Swishiers Dems" try to marry each other. Now behave :)

I'll do as you guys suggest and read "A Deepness in the Sky."
Only thing is, I'm gonna miss those dogs. Woodcarver was my favorite character in the whole thing.

My apologies for being behind the curve here.

I am asking that you pass this on and include Matt in your prayersPrayers going up for Matt. I have a nephew named Matt Brown, but he's not in the military. You and the guys with you there in Mosul are in my prayers, too!

So, I guess when I posted homemade dress photos I should have said that the skirt to my Mexican party dress is swishier than any others I have.

Sam, the auction goes on till April 18, so a week from tomorrow. Winmag is using all the proceeds to buy more knives to send the troops. He has paid for those knives himself and "donating" them to this auction. Therefore, any amount you bid will go directly toward buying more for troops.
That help?

Oh dear, I don't know who 'Kaiba' is, so you will definitely have to send pictures.
Grrrrr.... what was supposed to be my complete Kenshin set came, and again, it's only the first six disks! I was so frustrated, I went to the bookstore and read five volumes of Ranma!
