Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yes, that should do it. It would be a good idea to read the caveats that go along with this update, though. I think they are linked on the update page.

There are some cases where the fix breaks the machine pretty bad. Only if you are running certain software on your machine. In some cases people have gotten pretty messed up.

Do a system restore point before you update and then run the update. Then you should be good to go.

Nice pictures of you and the jedis! I only wish I could be so photogenic after such an ordeal. Today was mostly spent on the couch, since I am supposed to be resting with feet propped. At my appt this afternoon (39 weeks), I had lost a pound. The doctor has yet to check my cervix tho (I know, TMI). I am not real happy about that, but evidently these days some doctors don't like to do internals like that cuz they are unreliable indicators of labor. ARGH... I keep telling myself that God is teaching me patience.

On that note, I had a meltdown this morning. We can receive email, but cannot send. So, I called techsupport last night. They had me delete the account and add it as a new account. The guy didn't tell me that all my saved email would be lost FOREVER. In fact, he told me it was retrievable... Well, it isn't. I am one ticked mama.

In addition to that, he placed a trouble ticket for us so that someone would call us back today. Okay, that sounded like it was the right thing to do. So a tech guy calls me this morning. He tells me it is an antivirus issue and that I have to contact the manufacturer of the computer to get my original windows registration codes reset. "WHAT?" He also told me that I have to contact the antivirus company and get them to disable the software, or get them to tell me what the software did to change my register codes. Again, "WHAT?" We have had this account for over a year. We have also have the anti-virus on these machines for over a year. We did not have this problem until THIS WEEK. I tried my best to explain this to the tech. He told me that he could not help me. I changed the scenario by asking him if there was any possible other reason for this to happen. I.E. Assuming that it wasn't an antivirus issue, is there anything else it could be. He said flat out, "no." Okay... At this point, I was upset because I felt like he was not even trying to do his job. He said there was nothing else it could be and that he did not have the ability to help me, nor the information. And... He called me LADY. OOooohhh, that was it. I asked to speak to his supervisor. He told me that I could but his supervisor would only tell me the same thing. He proceeded to explain things to me yet again, without letting me ask ANY questions. I never did get to talk to his sup. It was all I could to to not yell profanities into the phone, and believe me, I know some good ones (not all of em in English either). Anyhoo, I told the tech I had to leave, and he tried to keep me on the phone. I told him, no, I really did have to leave, that I didn't have time to argue about this. I hung up and called PE and relayed the incident to him. I was sobbing. I mean, complete meltdown. Eyes puffy and red, the works. Hormones!

So, I left to pick up elf-boy from school, which really was why I had to leave. So much for bedrest. And you already know the rest of the afternoon.

Oy vey, I think I just vented a whole webpage.

Must be that $%&^$%&* worm that's out there today...

Think I've got it at work. The 'puter rebooted. Then I got an email from our computer people saying he uploaded the patch to a particular network drive. Where on the network drive?!!!! Dork. I still haven't found that stupid patch. My "search" thingy didn't find it.

Ah, I see you're another member of the database fan club! I used to have a lot of "fun" with that at work figuring out how to export files from one database into another, which depending on the program and the specifics of the formatting could take all day.

So are you joining us for the bad earthquake movie tonight? I think you're obligated, since your mentioning it to me was what inspired the thread last night that led to the spinoff thread; it's only just you should join us in our misery :)

BTW you have mail.

Yep--direct quote :) And now you know what she was really coughing at: it wasn't the earthquake; it was the movie! :)

If I can design the whole thing from scratch.

Heheh...I put my "from scratch" Access database on the network drive. The chemist geeks seem to like it. If a 'puter person looked at it, though, they'd probably want to know what squirrel-brain designed the thing.

I'll be watching with the family. We said exactly the same things as the thread did, last night, with the exception that we kept saying "oh, the humanity!" as the Golden Gate bridge was collapsing.
