Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, we're off to Peninsula Gardens (on the road to your beach house) for some garden acquisitions.

Kentucky Derby day! I have to pick a horse. We all choose, and then watch and cheer for our horse... it's the only horse race we watch, but it's cool.

That's why you plant it in closed areas!
When I bought this house it was not my first or second choice of homes.... but on the list of reasons to make it the 3rd house I offered on was the enclosed areas between driveways and house where I could put mint so it wouldn't take over everything else! I've got 2 places with nice patches of mint where they don't get out!

I am picking Smarty Jones. He's got a dramatic story of where he's been already.... his first trainer was murdered, which is interesting, but more relevant, he injured himself badly as a two year old... impaled his eye on some kind of metal bar sticking out near a starting gate... broke bones in his face and drove his eyeball back into the socket where they couldn't find it without a veterinarian. Emergency surgery or two later, and he has fully recovered.
I like a hardship and triumph story.

I'm going with Seabiscuit on account of he's ridden by Peter Parker :)
So what you doin' after the derby? You gonna be around today?

Watching Two Towers now. Those Isengard orcs have a hard time with that "leave none alive" command.

Those Isengard orcs have a hard time with that "leave none alive" command.Won't work for 'em. There will always be leftover elves!

...and men, and dwarves, and hobbits.
Horse race today, huh? They should make it a relay race and require at least one 4-shoe stop.

I'm going with Song of the Sword. I did consider Imperialism, just because it would be cool to root for Imperialism.
We're kind of partying tonight... my grandmother's coming over... I'll probably be in and out. Maybe around this evening, latish.

Two farriers over the wall at one time?
To: Overtaxed
The point of watching the Derby isn't the horses. It's the hats. Some of those ladies look like they just got off the remake of My Fair Lady.
