Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hmmm... if I ship you a brother or two, can you do anything with 'em? We don't necessarily need them back with all their bits...

The Knock character kinda reminded me of Gollum in some ways :)

The wolves in the opening scene are really cool.

Mr. Harker should take his reading more seriously. . .

Sagara Sanosuke is a cool character! Um, how come the one waitress has a Southern accent? :)

Evening G'nad. Just now got catched up. Had a BZA meeting tonight, two of the Commissioners were AWOL tonite so no quorum, get to do it again soon. One was AWL, he is a retired Marine, just found out he is in Afghan. Will find out more tomorrow from the Clerk.
The Ozark Selfbow Jamboree, aka MoJAM, is July 15-18, with the prime days being 16 and 17. I'll be there, Good Lord Willing, the gathering started in 1998 and I've been fortunate enough to make them all.

Would be great if you and the family could make it up there.

Dogwood is a remarkable tree, the root ball is incredibly strong and dense, trim off the laterals and use the trunk for the handle and you have a wooden maul that is darn near indestructble, should last you a season (maybe) for me it would last years. :-)

Corin spent the day in a bored meeting full of Lie'brals.

Wow, Corin, we do the same thing for a livin'! Today my Mayor said out loud that Bush is "dangerous". He's a nominal non-partisan, but really is a RAT (no one can get elected in this part of the country without being a RAT). The one conservative on our City Council is an anti-smoking nut -- thinks they should be banned from all public places, including all private businesses. That's the free enterprise, "pro-business" member of the nine!? I have yet to find another conservative amongst the 3,500 City employees...and I'm getting pretty sure that another one does not exist.

Hmm--am I getting confused on the names? Is the "hitman" for hire called Sagara Sanosuke or Zanra?

There was this one episode of The Simpsons where Homer was at a candy convention and was being chased by security because he had unwittingly eaten some rare Gummi Bears. To escape, he kicked a soda machine, grabbed a can of Mountain Dew that rolled out, stuck a can of Pop Rocks on top, shook it up, and tossed it like a grenade, causing a huge explosion :)

I've read, but not tried, that you can make field-expedient grenade simulators with those MRE chemical heaters.

Take an absolutely dry half-liter water bottle. Crumble up the chemical from two MRE heaters and put in the bottle. Cap well.

To use, take the cap off, fill bottle half-full of water, cap back tightly, and shake like hell. Then throw the sucker as far as you can. The crumbled chemicals and ample water lets the reaction proceed rapidly. That, in turn, produces high heat, and lots of hydrogen gas, to combine with the air in the bottle.

I haven't tried it, and don't intend to, but it might make for a good plot line for a story hero who needs a field-expedient noise maker.

Sounds like you need to drag some freepers in!!! Lonely place for ya though. My sympathies.

I notice that when they needed somebody to really handle something tough they called in a conservative to handle it. LOL

And Nosferatu should knock before opening the door--for that matter it would be nice if he touched the door before opening it--shudder!

Too bad they didn't have Nosferatu walk "through" the spider webs like Bela did.

His name is Sagara Sanosuke. His nickname, right now, is "Zanza".

I have no clue why the waitress has a Southern accent. How can you tell? You're not watching the dubbed, are you?

Yeah, I'm watching the dubbed for now until I get the storyline down. Then I want to watch the Japanese version later and try to pick up the Japanese.

So who's the guy who hired Zanra?
