Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hmm, Time, methinks, to start dinner. Elf-boy is watching Power Rangers, Beardog is still sacked out, who knows where Ben-Gilbert (the cat) is, PE hasn't left work yet, and I am starving. LOL.
oops, spoke too soon. There is the phone. PE is on his way. Later.

Just got a call from the placement agency... I didn't get the job. The company lost an account, so they cancelled the hiring they were going to do. But the agency will keep my resume on file for other openings that come up. Sticklebats!
Thanks for the continuing prayers!
Hair and I are going for a walk now... need to get out of the house for a bit.

That must've been a neat day for Elf-boy and class! I remember show-and-tell was always exciting, and then when someone brought a pet that was the best :) We never had anybody bring a dog, though, just a duck once. A dog would've been the talk of the town for nine days, as we say in the Shire :)

Sorry to hear you didn't get the job. We'll keep prayin' on it! Maybe that resume on file will turn into something. I've had applications where I didn't get a call until six months later after I'd already landed another job.

Mmm--custard. . .

I'm good in church! I share hymnbooks nicely and check all the Scripture references and even wear a hat, every week.Cool! If you itch in church, do you scratch it? I try not to, on account of I remember Tom Sawyer getting yelled at for that, so I have it in my subconscious that you're not supposed to, LOL!
To: Fedora
Depends where I itch, of course!
I try not to scratch if I'm up front singing with the choir. In general, I try not to distract people. Plus the pastor has a way of making it seem like he's always looking right at you, so that tends to keep everyone well behaved.

BTW "Sticklebats!" is a handy phrase--will have to remember that, thanks :)

Re: Hats
Y'all are going to think this wierd, I know: but had to find the rest of the quote to put my mind at ease about it. Here it is, from That Movie:
Item 6 on the Agenda, the Meaning of Life. This can be reduced to two fundamental concepts. One: people are not wearing enough hats. Two: matter is energy; in the Universe there are many energy fields which we cannot normally perceive. Some energies have a spiritual source which act upon a person's soul. However, this soul does not exist ab inito, as orthodox Christianity teaches; it has to be brought into existence by a process of guided self-observation. However, this is rarely achieved owing to man's unique ability to be distracted from spiritual matters by everyday trivia.

Why don't Elves wear hats? Naaaaahhhh that wouldn't do for a conspiracy theory. Not too many Middle Earth denizens wear hats. Just wizards and during battles and such.

Hathathathathat. It's a funny word.
I like hats. My mother likes them more. She has dozens. I have two winter hats and four summer hats. Heh, I have more hats than pairs of shoes!
