Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nothing's happening right now. Just waiting to hear the mainstream spin on Condi's testimony. Watching Jay Leno, then will switch to Nightline ("Watch the wiiiind, Ted! Watch the wiiiiiind!").

Then over to Fox, for a breath of sanity ...

After watching Condi today... I simply have no fear.

She was so head-and-shoulders above the nitwits she was testifying to... and some of them, like Kerrey... she just handed him his own n#ts in a nice pretty box. Funny thing was that he was so stupid he didn't even see it coming.

Why doesn't she return my calls??? :-)

Unfortunately, they don't program it regularly here so it's catch as catch can. But, always a treat! :-)

Did I mention I really like Joe Ely? :-)

Here's a Joe Ely song for Ramius! :-)

Artist/Band: Ely Joe
Lyrics for Song: Fingernails

I keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I'm gonna keep 'em that way
Till the Swallows get back from Texarkana.

I keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I'm gonna keep 'em that way
Till the Swallows get back from Louisiana.
Well, I used to chew 'em off
I was Nervous over you.
I missed that clickin', tickin' sound,
Honey, what I'm gonna do,
Is keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I keep my fingernails long
So they Click when I play the piano
I'm gonna keep 'em that way
Till the Swallows get back from Alabama.

hehehehe...

Time to get ready for church.

Did y'all sing "Tantum Ergo" tonight? At first we sang 3 verses in English, then the cantor started singingin Latin. It was amazing because I remembered almost ALL of it! It's been almost 35 years since I sung it in Latin! What was amazing was that it sounded like half the church was singing it! Shows you how 'old' the population of our Parish is!

Hey ho, y'all. Almost Friday. Only thing better is Friday night. Weather's still gorgeous around here. Gotta be something wrong in the universe. It's never this good this time of year.

Hi Scott! It was awesome here today too!

We've got a cold front coming through tomorrow though and we're supposed to have storms for the next 2 days and cold weather Sunday. Maybe we're getting *your* weather! yuck!

Let's hope it holds here into June. Sunny summer days this is about the greatest place on earth. We just never seem to get enough of 'em -- except this year when they're showing up in March and April!

I read the transcript and noticed the part where she ambushed him by quoting from his speech :)

Where did you find the transcript? I was looking earlier today, but I guess it was too soon after her appearance. When she smacked old Kerrey down, I started jumping up and down whoopin and hollerin!! Joseph just laughed at me. He'd already had a succinct comment about Kerrey. When he started out his questions, he started on about how much he admired Condi, yadda, yadda. Joseph just said, "Suck up"!

Hey Ramius and g'nad,

There were at least 2 threads today on the subject of whether our army has shrunk too much over the years, especially the last 10 or so. Naturally, freepers were lambasting the articles that implied such, since I guess they figured the idea reflects badly on Bush.

But I'm wondering if there isn't truth in that.
I for one would feel better if we had more divisions handy for God knows what might happen next.

I mentioned on one of the threads that I saw an analogy to 19th century England, which basically conquered much of the world with tiny little armies they sent around everywhere. This caused 'em to get their heads handed back to them in a basket a couple times at least, but they always sent more guys, months later, on wooden ships, to put things right again.

In a way, I wonder if today's USA is kind of a modern "thin red line."

oh, and also, i generally try to cover my tattoos for occasions like weddings!

A cute sarong over those skimpy shorts would fill that need. It would also go along with the Hawaiian theme of the wedding! After the ceremony you can 'lose' the sarong, if you like.
