Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

300wm; thanks for posting the letter, googled up the country, "interesting" area. There is also a link to a regimental newsletter.
In S.A. I met a couple BR guys before it became KBR, they were construction types, working hospital projects. They were (and still are) a quality firm.
We got an email from mgnt asking for bios from interested parties for a team to work on some "public facilities" infrastructure work "in country" so to speak, but based in Jordan, ahhh, I'll have get back to them on that..unless I deleted the email. :-)

'Cept it was wrong... shoulda been Glorfindel. Glorfindel is the coolest elf in the books.
Of course, nothin' wrong with the movie showcasing the real abilities of us lady elves! :-)

I think that weekend could work!
I'm trying to see if my sister would like to come along - she is majorly into anime and would like Clare a lot - and if she does, I'd drive out. Otherwise I'll find the cheapest flight I can get.

Well, as a guy I'd prefer seeing Liv Tyler to Glorfindel :) But as a Tolkien fan, yeah, it shoulda been Glorfindel :) In either case it was a cool chase.

Homework's not done, but I'm almost given up for the night. Am watching anime. My sister was in to raid my collection and lament that the Ranma she wanted to see is in transit - she's become a major Ranma fan, go figure.
I'm burning a nice little cd of the anime openings I have, to play in my car. I've got over half an hour of stuff. Should just about do it for the long-commute days.

Cool idea on the car anime CD! What'd the post office tell you on the ETA for the package? :)
You'll have real mail in a few. . .

It was such fun, but so short. :-(
We took some really goofy pictures, so I'll post those when I get them. She balanced herself on one of those bouncy horses on springs for kids (she only weighs 80 pounds) and we just goofed around and got silly props and had a great time making her mom laugh (and nearly wetting our pants ourslves in the process).

Evenin' all. Cool news about the tiller.
Don't quite have the land to justify that here. But I did spend the day in the yard. I'm plum tuckered out. It wuz good I got the yard mowed yesterday.
Did some errands and did the Lowes/Walmart runs this mornin' which took about four hours so I got in the yard around 1:00 and finished around 9:00.
I composted and mulched...and I planted impatiens, petunias, pansies, daisies, sunflowers, wildflowers, "money plant" and "four o'clocks" (those two from my mother in law), some maters and peppers. Repotted some parsley, sage, basil and thyme (they wuz outta rosemary), and some peppermint.
Oh yeah, and I plant some fine Missouri cannabis...er cannas...yeah, that's it that someone was vey kind to send me.
