I certainly can't spell "intelligently"...

I concluded that someone misinterpreted Gimli's pronunciation of "axe" That's what Jr. did with the extended version of TTT. He relayed it to me as "Because my butt was embeded in his nervous system..."
He wouldn't say "ass."

He wouldn't say "ass." Certainly not! - I was 30 before I would say such a thing in front of my dad!

We are back from the prom. It was nice (and not yer typical publik skul affair). But I should've left my knees and hip at home...(not much dancing, but a lot of standing)

Good night everyone...

Well, the movie won enough of 'em so that fits...same number as ROTK...guess that means that Oscar is going to start looking like Smeagol now?
To: HairOfTheDog
Some of them are just gibberish... Arwen to Aragorn: "You are the senator to their, not the senator himself" and Frodo to Gollum: "Release him or I will cut you off root" you have to wonder if the movie made any sense at all.ROFL! I have to check that out sometime :)

You know, I haven't delved too deeply into manga or anime, but I don't think they have the concept of "superhero" like U.S. comics do. They have super-powered beings (usually aliens or mystically-based) but that superpower isn't the focus of the character, as it is in U.S. superhero comics. You're probably on the right track there, though I too would need to research more to discuss with any certainty. In US comics heroes typically seem to derive their powers from scientific technology (Batman, etc.) or accidents (Spider-Man, etc.). In Japanese cartoons I've seen there is a stronger emphasis on the hero's powers having martial, mystical, or alien origins, and although there can also be a scientific element there it tends to be in the area of robotics or high-tech vehicles rather than superhuman powers. At least that's based on what's coming to mind off the top of my head, which may reflect limited exposure to what's in the full range of Japanese comics--I'm sure there's been quite a bit of recent American influence and I know there are some recent characters who are akin to the X-Men and Teen Titans.

Japanese Tolkien fans are upset with the subtitled version of FOTR I'll have to tell Soupy about that. She'll be amused because there's always wierdness in translation between the two languages.
Her homeschooled friend went to Japan in March and brought her back a movie poster for RoTK. It was just fixing to be released there!
