The Hobbit Hole VIII - Still round the corner we may meet...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yah... I remember a few sets of twins at Tumwater, but now that I think about it, none of them were boys... oops, not true. There were the Belcher boys.

Did you see/acknowledge/accept/put-in-your-little-calendar the Howard Shore Concert July 15th that we announced yesterday? We got you a ticket to it.... It's a Thursday night. Scott, Melanie and Penny are going too.

Hmm--guess I will have to read up on what different diets say about po-ta-toes :) But I think you're right that if you don't eat them too much/too often it shouldn't be a big deal. On the other hand if you eat too much of them--well, let's just say there have been some extreme cases, and what can happen ain't pretty:

July 15th? Okey doke. It's on da caledarizer. I guess we'll have to come up with some way to meet down there. I surmise that it's at the Opera House?

Heh...either that or be capable of really, really messing with the enemy's head.

Isn't there an Arnold Schwarezenegger movie where he uses a holographic projection of himself to do that? :) I think either Total Recall or Last Action Hero, maybe.

It's the Seattle Symphony at their hall:

Ecurbh and I just bought THREE tickets for this showing for the two of us, and Ramius, to go see this. The Thursday show is the only one with many tickets left.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: A Symphony in Six Movements

Howard Shore, composer and conductor
Members of the Seattle Symphony Chorale
Seattle Symphony

Howard Shore's Academy Award-winning scores from the Lord of the Rings trilogy come to life in a grand six-movement journey that takes us from the tranquility of the Shire, to the horrors of Mordor and explosive Mount Doom. Includes music from all three films.

Seattle Symphony | Your Order

Penny and Scott, if you guys want to go, our seats are on the third tier, and if you bought them right away, would probably be near to us.

Ecurbh and I will probably carpool up with Scott and Melanie, and we can meet up for dinner with Penny somewhere in Seattle. I figured you'd be in Bellevue that day if your life is normal that week.

They have their own hall? They used to play at the Opera House at the Seattle Center. Are we talking about the same place?

Re: Dinner... Good plan. I should be possible to come up with something wonderful.

Yikes... followed the links, and yes, now they Play at Beneroya Hall. Never been there before.

[sigh] Show how long it's been since I've been out to see the Seattle Symphony.

It does open up the dinner possibilities, though... It looks like it's much more central downtown.

Its a nice hall, not too big. Though our seats are in the back, it isn't very deep. It will be good. That is where ecurbh took me during smooch moot.

I think we ate at Ivar's that night.

Well, I'm back... went shopping, got some tops and a bathing suit. Remember what I wore at Entmoot, Rosie? Well, now I have a real suit. Almost slightly modest. I hate bathing suits, though.

And worked out plans for my graduation/birthday stuff with Mom. It's going to end up being three weekends of events. Oh well.

What'd you wear at Entmoot that wasn't a real suit?--sounds like another Entmoot anecdote I need to be updated on! BTW, what did you decide to do to celebrate graduation?

broccoli-n-rice w/cheese mix? oh dear. You gotta make it from scratch from now on. Do you need a recipe? Everyone I have met seems to make it differently, but I have one that gets requested at family gatherings... if you want it.

At Entmoot, I wore a big t-shirt and a pair of jeans, cut off at the knees. The jeans were too big...

Sigh. On my birthday, we're having our annual Kentucky Derby/Cinco de Mayo day (since we officially do not speak Spanish, 'Cinco de Mayo' means 'excuse to eat Mexican on the first weekend in May). I have been promised a margarita.

Graduation is May 8th. We're doing the ceremony, then my parents and I are going out for dinner. Maybe to Ruth's Chris.

Weekend after we're having a party for both, on the Sunday. That will allow us to invite Grandma to the ceremony, and Granddad to the party, and never the twain shall meet. Plus it moves the busy-ness one week back.

LOL! Reminds me of the time I went swimming in my tennis shoes and never did get the sand out of them afterwords. . .

Eating Mexican sounds good! I usually get a strawberry margarita with a giant vegetarian burrito (I'm not vegetarian but I like vegetarian burritos).

So what did you ask for for your birthday? :)
