Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hey, speaking of exercise stuff, I was wondering the other day, are you still doing the Tae Bo? I haven't recently, mostly because it seems like more of a hassle to get set up than just walking. But I probably will work that back in, especially on rainy days.
The chicken turned out great! I dipped it in oil and vinegar with lots of pepper and rosemary before I broiled it and it came out very tasty. I still have three pieces left to use for in salads for lunches. And I have leftover cucumber broccoli pepper salad, too. Gotta give that a name...it's too long to type as is! I put olive oil and lemon juice on that, and dill. Also vey tasty.
I think I'll have fun with this diet. Since there aren't all THAT many restricted vegetables, you get a lot of variety.

Yes, it IS expensive compared to sugar! I got some of the packets, which are stronger than the granulated stuff...but I'll probably just use them for tea and the occasional dessert. I'm honestly not that much of a dessert person (except for chocolate and occasionally ice cream), so I haven't even looked into baking things with it.
I think that's lil'freeper's specialty. ;-)

What about bread? Do you have to give it up? We did, on Atkins. I still make it every few days for the boys, though.
Still, I made a garlic cheddar biscuit today out of whey powder and they were GREAT! Made 22 biscuits at a carb a piece!
The whey powder is ungodly expensive, though...this'll be a rare treat.

I know! Argh!! I have to admit, I've had a sample of the boy's wheat bread...I make it with extra gluten and it's so airy!

You're allowed bread (and whole grains, like brown rice) in the next stage, though they say sparingly - not with every meal, in other words. And no white flour allowed, so if I DO have it I'll be baking my own. Such a hardship! You know how much I HATE baking bread... ;-)
I'll probably leave out most starches until I feel pretty sure I'll still be able to lose weight while eating some, though. I WILL add fruit back in after the first two weeks, though.

I know it isn't definitively too late, and I would be open to the idea of adopting a child that is older and needed us. I thought a lot about that when I thought I might be an old maid... that I could adopt perhaps a foster child, or something like that.
I just wonder, while I still have a choice, I wouldn't choose to have a baby right now, and I would definately think I shouldn't wait a few more years to decide! - It's now or never to start from scratch.

I've been reading about this stuff called "Protein Wheat Isolate"...very low in carbs, can bake with it like flour.
Looked it up and found a five pound bag for TWENTY BUCKS!

Um...that means a loaf of bread made with it would just be what, about seven bucks?
LOL!

Hi guys! Hope all is well with you. Came in to brag a bit: Fort Bend Theatre, where I participated in "To Kill a Mockingbird" is having its own "Academy Awards" Ceremony and I've been nominated for Best Adult Actress!!!!!!!!!!!! There are five other people up for the award. I won't care if I don't win though. Im just pleased as punch that they included me!
So...whassup?
Corin, you still doing your blog??? I have moved on to LiveJournal because the pressure to constantly update isnt as great there, plus I get to squee over any little thing I want.

I think you should have a baby asap, then adopt that older child too...
What a blessing you would be for that older child!

I don't think I will be using that stuff any time soon. The one bag of Splenda was about as $$ as I am willing to get.

Fort Bend Theatre? Is that in Houston?
I have a couple of good friends in the Houston theatre circuit...or used to be. We've lost touch.
Jeanann Hutsell and Rick Burford.

Well, the almond flour was expensive too...$8 for a pound...from now on, I'm making my own. But it's delicious stuff.
