Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well... in actual fact we're tied. I guess I have seven sibs, but it's hard to count the one who's not here any more.
I have no desire to work on those skills either, but it's not something you lose.

I forgot about that one. And of course they count! I'm sorry.
Skills like that are good to have, I suppose, but not something you can put on a resume or anything. ;-) "Ability to successfully pin down a fifteen month old child in order to change a poopy diaper with little to no 'overflow' or collateral damage..."

I thought of you today. I was at the store restocking on all the food we have eaten in the past two weeks. Yikes! Bought some splenda, thought I would try it out since you *can* use it for baking. Honestly though, when I picked up the bag, I thought to myself that it was vey light. (Kinda reminded me of the preboiled minute rice grains as compared to the regular rice grains.) I sereisly wondered if I should have bought two bags. We'll see how long the slpenda lasts. That stuff is expensive compared to regular sugar.

Mmm... I was so young, I don't often think of him. Lately, though, I have been - because of the couple we knew who lost a baby with ancephaly last month. It's almost like something that happened to someone else. I have memories but very few emotions to associate with those memories.
Mostly, I hurt for my parents, because, well, I can see it still affects them.

My cousin, Josh (my Dad's sister's oldest), is getting Eagle Scout in May. We may or may not be attending. I would like to go if we can make it, but the baby may not allow it :-)
PE is pretty stoked too, cuz Josh is accepted to be in the college of engineering at *his* alma mater.

Thanks for the update. MRE's aren't all *that* bad, except when you have to rely on them. Praying that you can have the good stuff asap. Hopefully the mail should be back in motion soon as well, and efforts from home can resume.

Huh, interesting. I think I've seen some US cartoons do the same thing, only I don't know if they call it OVA. Like, I've seen Spider-Man and X-Men episodes at Blockbusters that I don't think they've ever shown on TV.

Hey, speaking of exercise stuff, I was wondering the other day, are you still doing the Tae Bo?
That broiled chicken combo sounds good--mmm, salad with broccoli and cucumber and peppers. . .I had a blackened chicken salad for lunch and that would've went good with it!

Seven sibs plus one on the way--whoah! That's bigger than the Brady Bunch! :)

Congratulations to Josh on the great achievements! :)

We don't have one on the way! Mom was told to stop after the little guy, and he's 8 now.
The Brady Bunch were pikers. What, three hers, three his, and one both? Come on, anyone could do that.

Oh, man, I see now I misread your post 'cause I was reading too fast and said something really dumb. Sorry.

The best places for baby clothes are the church consignment sales. She can get sometimes never-been-worn stuff, and slightly used clothes for a fraction of the cost. Last month, I got 35 items for $37, two of which were $4.00 items (and those two were the most expensive of the bunch). My mother did the same thing the previous month. It's also how I got the infant car seat/carrier vey cheaply. Sometimes you can even get a cribset and a crib. I still have elf-boy's crib and cribset, so I wasn't worried too much about that.
Another good thing about goign to consignment sales is that it isn't all about kids clothes :-) YOU can find something for you and possibly ecurbh as well. Garage sale are also good for stuff like that. If you are planning on giving her a baby shower, don't let her buy too much too soon. Those aren't usually until the last trimester. Instead of shopping, get her to register at different stores. It is just as fun as shopping, and is just like when you register for getting married.

I LOVE Splenda. It does feel light, but you measure it cup for cup like sugar. I made an cake out of it the other day, out of almond flour. It was absolutely delicious.
FYI, the packets of Splenda are equal to 2 teaspoons of sugar and the bulk bags of Splenda are measured just like sugar...that make sense? The carb count for a packet of Splenda is 1g and the carb count for a teaspoon of bulk Splenda is .5g. So you can use a packet of Splenda, worth 2 teaspoons and it's a gram, or you can use two teaspoons of bulk Splenda, and it's worth a gram. Any liquid Splenda (which only comes in items like ice cream, and drinks like Diet Rite) is ZERO carbs...you can't get liquid Splenda plain though...DaVinci Syrup has it in it though...Zero Carbs.
I drink a water called Fruit-2-O with Splenda and it's pretty good stuff. I haven't had sugar in weeks.

Sonya's into garage saling and second-hand stores as a hobby... Likes to go with me. Wouldn't surprise me that she buys a lot that way, though they have good cash flow now and Tim isn't the used-stuff kind of guy....
I think it's good for her to start buying now.... Gets her off my case about whether I have gotten a special cake-cutting knife yet!

Okay, my mother and her best friend went down different paths when it comes to having children. Mom had both me and my brother before she was 35. Mom's friend, Ann, wanted children eventually, but chose the career route. Now it is too late for her to have her own biological children, but she has adopted a precious baby girl named Sierra. A first time mother, and over 55. She is having the time of her life! It ain't too late for ya hon.
