Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I have friends from college who are expecting their first next month (they is MY age) after a long time of trying.
She has never changed a diaper.

I am sure Sonya hasn't either....
Not that I have.... I haven't ever held a baby that wasn't instantly unsatisfied with me. Babies don't like me! I am good with older kids... Sonya and I are both the youngest.
I have mixed feelings about this, I don't know if ecurbh and I are going to do this or not, but our first instinct is to wince at the idea. Do we want it? We don't know. And I don't think Sonya knows either, but Tim does...
I always hoped when my ecurbh came along he would have a child already, no choice in the matter.... a child old enough to want a pony. I know how to entertain those. ;~D
Sonya's situation will make us think.... She'll want us to so she has someone else to be pregnant with, and have a toddler with.... Part of me will be jealous.
But part of me says the window of opportunity has passed. she will be sixty when this baby graduates high school. My mom died when she was 58. I can't get around that, though I think it isn't a good reason. My mom gave a lot before she left.

Same for a lot of folk!
I will be jealous of Sonya because I think I would be a really good parent (I didn't ~say~ better) But I have enough opinions about how it should be done from watching my friends. It isn't like I have never thought about it. I do.
Can't I just take in stray dogs and unmanageable ponies? Will that fulfill the desire to nurture?
We'd love to be the "aunt and uncle" on the farm that people send their kids to!

We'd love to be the "aunt and uncle" on the farm that people send their kids to!We have a couple like that. They became friends with us four years ago... they don't want kids of their own but they like spending time with young people. So we just think they're the coolest.
However, babies aren't that hard. You should have one.
I am going to be the world's most experienced first-time mother, one of these days. Plus I know how to bore small children to sleep quickly.

To: Fedora
Yup... since at the moment I'm not sure real Animoot will happen.
I realized after posting that, the initials are 'OVA', which is an anime term. How geeky am I?
Ugh, that was a lousy workout. Only managed one 8-minute run and did the rest at a quick walk.

I think I'm gonna stick to walking.
Guess it goes along with being a hobbity type.
Speaking of which...dinner is going to be good, I think. Broiled chicken with lotsa spices and a sort of salad with broccoli and cucumber and peppers and an olive oil dressing. They're all on the allowed list for first phase...seems like cheating, kinda.
So far only side effects are a mild headache and feeling thirsty even though I've been drinking lots and lots.

Original Video Animation. Sometimes if a series is popular, after it's finished on tv, they'll put out OVAs. "Kenshin" has six half-hour OAVs (and it's full half hour, no need for commercial breaks). "Ranma", I think, has 12 - that's the most I've ever heard of. Anime's weird... most of them are just one season long (20-30 episodes). Some are three seasons or more.

That sounds good.
Drink loads of water. It's supposed to help you lose the first few pounds.

I am going to be the world's most experienced first-time mother, one of these days. Heh...don't I have you beat by one? Admittedly it's been longer since I changed a diaper. Last time was for a kid I babysat probably six years ago. I'm outta practice.
Not that I have any desire to work on those skills...not unless it's my own kid, that is.
*sigh*
