Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Rose, I've read some of those quotes before, and never heard others. (Guess I ought to pick up the reissue of the "Notebooks" in June or whenever it is Baen's putting them out).

Please keep posting them! And come online a little earlier so we have a chance to chat!

Well, I can't say anything, as I was impersonating Jim Morrison in the 1990s :)

But Jim Morrison wasn't doin' much in the 1990's....

So... I guess you took the road less-traveled by?

That's about it! ;-)

I LOVE Robert Frost.

No walking today, though. It's pouring like crazy, and we may get even have some flooding.

Good morning!

Well...I've accomplished nothing so far today. Attempted to fix two problems and ran up against snags on both that will probably require phone calls to support. I dislike the fact that every teacher has a few little programs they want to install in labs, most of which are really made for stand-alone PCs, preferably with old versions of Windows that have no security features. Sigh.

And the other one won't take the serial number it came with, so I can't install it. THAT makes lots of sense.

At least I have coffee. *sip*

Morning.... it's pouring here. Has been since lunchtime yesterday. Honestly, we've had more rain this year, it's getting old.

Supposed to rain for the rest of the week here. Again, I might add. At least the weekend is (so far) supposed to be nice!

We can probably use the rain...we had several VERY dry years there and the water table is still recovering. But I don't like it.

Same forecast here. As long as it's sunny on Saturday, I guess I'll be content.

I really hope my amazon order comes today.

Couple books. Mostly manga, for some reason I've been having such trouble reading lately, but the pretty pictures help. I think it's end-of-semester stress.

I'm still working my way through Mysterious Island. Almost done, though. *snif* I kinda hate for it to end.

Oh, I know what you mean...

Sigh, there are so many books I'd like to read, but I'd have to buy them and I really shouldn't. If I get money for my birthday I'm making a nice big Amazon order.

Right now I have lots more to read than I have time to read...which is both good and bad. Better than the alternative, in any case.

I picked up a couple more books at the Salvation Army store this weekend, too. Action thriller type books. I like those once in awhile, but gotta be in the right mood.

Cool. The only local used bookstore just has nothing these days. I'm still depressed over my favorite place closing. Books are expensive!

They certainly are. I'm able to get a book here and there...but as I've said before, one of the reasons I've never been into sci-fi is that they tend to have to be read in series...and finding a complete series used is all but impossible, and buying new books adds up vey quickly.

Oy, Suzi... tell Soupy I read the first two manga of Fruits Basket last night and it's so sweet. I know she liked that anime, she said so at Entmoot.
