Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Still round the corner we may meet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

On my way, darling!
To: RosieCotton
Rosie; sounds like a nice area for walk, if you include a friend and a can of pepperspray (for recalciterant doggies). Otherwise, it could be very nice when (if?) it warms up. :-)
To: ecurbh
ecurbh; looks like a good haul for the first day. Most hollers in these parts are full of frap, some of it old enough to be cool. You up on your tetanus shots?
To: Ramius
Sadly... I was a geek in high school WAY before it was cool. hehehe... but payback is sweet! The last job I had before coming to this one was actually in the town where I grew up. I really took the job as a short term thing but ended upstaying over a year because the pay was just *way* too good. Had to drive 112 miles a day though, that got old! However, since it was in that town where I grew up, there were several people there I had known growing up when I was the most uncool of kids. I was the one they used to suck up to for answers on homework but never hang out with.
Then, after all those years (over 20 since I got out of high school) suddenly, I was on the high end of the payscale... and they were mostly lucky if they were making a few dimes over minimum wage! Oh yeah baby! :-)

Yeah - but this is fifth grade! I mean.... careers are not made or lost by good fifth-grade acheivement test scores. This is true ma'am... but I guess those 5th grade teachers need to make themselves *feel* special! /sarcasm :-)

Roger that... From the beginning a couple of weeks ago I pretty much saw Fallujah as a kill zone that the Marines were setting up. Seemed that all the bad guys were being driven and/or drawn into it. From the results so far it would appear that it was highly successful. The bad guys have lost, depending on who you listen to, somewhere between 600 and 1000 of their vermin.
Yes, it has come at the expense of twenty or maybe thirty or more good Marines. I cannot express properly the loss of these good men. One of these men isn't worth a thousand of the vermin they are exterminating. But it also means that we are winning.

2jm; new chicks for easter; guess an annex to the chicken's house is in order. The colored eggs sound great. Didn't know they actually did that. (okay, I'm a city kid)

Hair; really enjoyed the pictures from the beach house, Gidget looked liked she was having a blast.
Sounds like the temp job is a could be a bit of a challenge. Just remember, it all pays the same.
To: Ramius
the number is closer to 1,000... we've taken losses, but that's why we get the high pay and kewl threads...
Fallujah wasn't intentionally allowed to become a stronghold for Sadr... the folks responsible fer that zone let it go to hell... I ain't mentionin' any names...
talked a a buddy last night that actually dealt with Sadr on a regular basis last summer... Rick said Sadr was a whackjob, thug, criminal, scum, pedophile, megalomaniac... I could go on but you get the picture...
