Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Troop Information

For those of you in need of a ping on this, here is Steve's latest information and information for prayer:

"Here is the latest....All of the injured soldiers are going to be fine. 5 of the 6 are on their way to Walter Reed as we speak. They will have their rehabilitation there. On the down side we learned that one soldier Greg Goodrich was killed in the attack, and two others are still missing. Their names were withheld pending notification. Now we need to focus our thoughts and prayers to the families and on the safe return of the MIA's. Please pass this along. Thanks"

You are not alone now. :-)

I am anxiously waiting to see if Myranda calls. IF, my dad gets out of a doctor's appointment early enough he has agreed to meet me halfway bringing Myranda home to see me for a couple of days. I am trembly hoping this one doctor's appointment goes quickly! I so want Myranda home for 3 days! :-)

I'm guessing she'd probably enjoy being home for a few days, too! Hope it works out for you.

Me too! I am just *hoping* to get that call and be on the road any minute. The place we have talked of meeting is 2 hours away.... but I don't have to go to work till 3:30. I could go till 11:30 and still make it to work. I'm itchy to go!!!

Congratulations on that gone pound!!!! Good for you. :-)

With all the exercise I am sure there is more than you see on that scale. I think when I am in the weight ganed mode and wishing to lose it would be terribly depressing for me to have a scale and get on it. Of course, in that mode it is terribly depressing to try to dress and find my clothing doesn't fit also. *sigh*

I know you look at me as you met me at entmoot and think I haven't a concept but I have been there! Matter of fact, after Myranda was born, I did not lose *any* weight and continued to gain. I was over 180 pounds for a good while. When I finally started to lose again Myranda was almost 3. It took me many months to lose 30 pounds. And the whole time I just felt completely of no value. (of course at the time I also had a husband who was cheatin' on me. That will add to the valueless feeling quite a bit. ~sigh~)

I guess the one good thing is that I apparently "carry it" fairly well. I think most people would be as shocked to hear my real weight as I was a few months ago when I finally realized my scale WAS working.

At least now the needle is moving. A little.

23 pounds left to go...and that will still be eight more pounds than I weighed when I enlisted...and the recruiter told me I should probably try to lose a few before boot camp.

I'm mostly just depressed that I didn't catch this sooner, but I didn't have a clue. La-la land, apparently.

I did not carry all that weight I gained well either. You know, when you get past a certain point, you can't carry it well if there's no place to put it! If I weren't anxiously awaiting this phone call right now I would search out one of those horrible pictures of me back then, scan it and post it for you. You would see.

Would be embarrassing but I could show you and maybe you'd feel better! I will look for one later this week.

I just talked to Myranda and my dad called and should be back any moment. So, I'm fixin' to have to get on the road I think!

Cell phones are wonderful things!

I really hate being stuck at home when expecting an important call. If cell phones weren't an additional expense and worked well here, I'd definitely have one.

Have gas. No word yet! ARRRGGHHHH!!!!

Thinkin' I should just start driving that way... but then if my dad decides he can't drive her for some reason, I would just have wasted a tank of gas. UGH!

You know, I didn't have a cell phone till 2 years ago. Actually lived here a year before I got one. It was pointless back home because as you say about there, they didn't work well. There was just no coverage from any company that hit the area consistantly.

She's just called!!! ON MY WAY!!!! :-D

C-YA!
