Are either of you familiar with the 'Tenebrae' Service? We're going to be doing it at our church this coming Friday night. It is rather pretty. I know I've heard some of the music before, but not put together in this way. This is called "The Shadow of the Cross", and it's described as a 'Contemporary' Tenebrae Service. It's not electric guitars, etc. We're going to do it with the organ and strings. We had our first rehearsal for it last Thursday, and we have another this Thursday with the musicians. The service is Friday night! The organist and choir director gave us copies of the score and a CD of the service so we could learn our parts before the rehearsals. I did pretty well, considering it's VEY hard to hear the alto part on the CD sometimes. I don't read music, so I have to hear it and then remember the notes.

We have Tenebrae services every year on Maundy Thursday. In fact we sometimes don't have a Good Friday service but always Maundy Thursday - I don't know what makes it a 'Tenebrae Service' but apparently that's what it is called.

Ugh, am still sick. Am no longer high on Nyquil. I'm not going to work today but I'll see how much I can do at home.
