DENVER - A Denver synagogue was damaged with graffiti overnight. Swastikas were drawn on the synagogue on south Monaco Parkway.

The graffiti was in the doorway and across a sign. There were also several symbols drawn on the back wall of the building.

A holocaust survivor who saw the graffiti says it was almost too much to take. There was no official response available from the congregation Saturday, although several people who called 9NEWS to report the damage said that they blamed Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ” for rekindling anti-Semitism.

Members of the congregation will gather Sunday morning to start cleaning off the graffiti.

Is 9News willing to retract its *story*?

I don't know. I figure the police will investigate and the news will follow up if there are new developments. That is the normal course of events. What does that have to do with the definition of Antisemitism that I posted from the dicitionary ?

But then I would add that there are innocent non Chrisians in this world to whom horrible things have happened and they too may make a movie that is just as grahpic and heartt wrenching as the Passion

And hundreds of movies have been made about them. Look, Christ was sent here to SUFFER and then die and then resurrected for all mankind. That meant REAL sacrifice and real SUFFERING not just a quick death. I haven't seen Passion but I also know in my religious upbringing that what Christ suffered was beyond human capability to endure. Death was the easy part.

Good grief,my FRiend. You just don't understand this concept.

Hey everybody, lookie what this guy said!

Seems like there is always a holocaust survivor around to quote. Do they store one in every synagogue, just in case they're needed?

Just thought everyone should know what kind of a person they are posting to....or maybe not posting to anymore.

"I also know in my religious upbringing that what Christ suffered was beyond human capability to endure."

I respect your religious upbringing, but I would suggest that the suffering of Christ was more focused on us than himself. The human body has a built in mechanism to deal with extreme pain... That would be shock. When a person goes into shock, they no longer feel the pain.

Part of the thread that is out of context.

Note, the crime was reported to the media.

The poster explained his somewhat raunchy post IMO.

We are way past shooting at each other.

Hey, I have not to see the movie to have an opinion. I'm reading more than you might ever have done in your entire life.
And again, there is the problem, you don't accept peoples opinions, when not seeing the movie.
That's WRONG. People can have an opinion, without watching the movie!!!!
And........when your children are used to that kind of violence (TV ore games) then your children are already suffering of negligence. You will get to "pay the bill" in the future!

How about the persecution of Christians in the Baltic's.

That is what brought me in this direction when my Grandparents immigrated.

Yonif said: "I didn't mean to say that as if it would occur in the US. I was saying that it brings back memories of something else, in a different place. That is why a lot of Jews are alarmed at that, because it brings back the past. Sorry if I confused you."

I'd like to expand on what Yonif said:

Since one era of the unpleasant past described is within the first hand memory of people living today (it's not ancient history), it is frightening to witness a similar possibly inciting phenomenon today. These are patriotic, grateful Americans who have seen for themselves that civilized, cultured societies can turn on a dime and become violent quicker than anyone would have imagined. They are speaking out about the danger because they don't want to see the U.S. become susceptible to this evil. The U.S. has been a blessed society with highminded standards of fair play, ethics, and tolerance and good people of all religions pray that it stays that way.

'Sides, I noticed your hostility to Christianity way before the Passion came up as a topic. You struck me as the most anti-Christian poster on this site that I've ever seen.

I didn't say it wasn't but for God to send his only son to earth for the express purpose of suffering death and resurrection it is ludicrous to think that that it would, in any way, be a "human" event. The only way for God to make the point to US would be to use this as, forgive the term, a “shock and awe” event in a time when death and torture of mortal men was common place and the population sensitized to it.

several people who called 9NEWS to report the damage said that they blamed Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ” for rekindling anti-Semitism.

It is a measure of the medias' hypocrisy, bias, and general depravity that an unsupported claim from presumably anonymous callers would be treated as newsworthy. Have they considered the possbility that the callers were themselves the perps, perhaps media-savvy left-wing RoP dhimmis trying to fan the flames of division, as their lapdog kapos in Hollywood and the ADL have managed to do?

Yes, and if you said that a particular food or drink tasted bad and you had never tasted them, I (and I hope everyone else) would not respect your opinion. Sorry...
