DENVER - A Denver synagogue was damaged with graffiti overnight. Swastikas were drawn on the synagogue on south Monaco Parkway.
The graffiti was in the doorway and across a sign. There were also several symbols drawn on the back wall of the building.
A holocaust survivor who saw the graffiti says it was almost too much to take. There was no official response available from the congregation Saturday, although several people who called 9NEWS to report the damage said that they blamed Mel Gibsons movie The Passion of the Christ for rekindling anti-Semitism.
Members of the congregation will gather Sunday morning to start cleaning off the graffiti.

Antisemitism is a meaningless term,No it is not. It is an ancient, evil, and still present hatred of Jews. There is nothing in the least humorous about it. It is altogether evil.

The astounding fact about the case is that, despite the delicious irony of the Anti-Defamation-League having to pay $12.5 for Defaming that couple, and the constant attention by the media to every word that drips from the lips of Abe Foxman, this week's decision by the Supreme Court turning down the ADL's request to review the decision against them was uncovered by the national media.
Any one here care to speculate on the reason for that silence by the media?

If "Passion" was put out 20 years ago, I doubt that anything negative would have been put about it. Now in the postmodern era of PC it is if people are being forced at gun point to go and see a "religious" movie.

Not all Jews are Semites...but some Palestinians are.:) Antisemitism is a meaningless term, though still a great button-pusher. That was a Catholic who used the "anti-semite" term you quoted, not me.
At any rate, the term was invented by a German Jew-hater as a euphemism for "Jew-hater". You know very well what it means, so there is no need to quibble about etymology.

Christians in America are the most fortunate and free people on the face of the earth Because our ancestors put their lives on the line through three centuries fighting for it.

but you guy's have got to develop a little thicker skin. Putting the movie aside, I would say that a lot Jews, just looking at their history of existence, are very alarmed when such incidents occur. In past experiences it was just a beginning to something more horrible.

I think you misunderstand completely.
What I was attempting to point out, is that in almost every story of this type I see, a 'holocaust survivor' is quoted; usally, he/she is right there.
The reporter NEVER questions their status; it is taken on faith.
It seems much too coincidental, considering that 60 years have past.
Now, if they mean alife-long American Jewish person who was ALIVE during the Holocaust, and NOT a European Jew who was actually, PERSONALLY involved in the actual horror of the holocaust, then it is much more reasonable that they would be present.
But, that is not the IMPRESSION conveyed by the term "holocaust survivor".

My fear is all along since this movie hits us, that it will divide so many people, good friends and so on.
It's not right to blame people who are not going to watch...........!!!! It happens in my neighbourhood. Friend get into fights, friends blame the "no watchings",
no believers! That's wrong.
Please exuse my bad English,in German I could have said it much better. But I just want to express my way!

Later, everyone found out that the recordings became illegal just five days after they began, when President Clinton signed a new wiretap restriction into federal law. I suppose this may put the Linda Tripp cases in a new perspective. Linda Tripp broke the law by taping Monica Lewinsky (except when authorized). The majority of the country sympathized more with Monica (and Bill) on this taping issue and against Linda (definitely against Linda). I'm curious if the folks here gloating against the ADL are gloating against Linda Tripp.

Violation of a synagogue is repugnant. Once the perps are captured, I'll have several questions: 1. What is their religious affiliation? 2. Have they been consumers of anti-Semitic literature? 3. Have they ever committed anti-Semitic acts before? 4. Did they see the film, "The Passion of the Christ?" 5. Were they aware of fears that the film would inspire anti-Semitism?

I repeat: Not all Jews are Semites; and not all Semites are Jews. Therefore, it IS meaningless.
