I asked a lady to marry me over the weekend. She said yes. We have known each other about 6 weeks, dated 2. This is crazy, I know but we both felt it was right and I need God to lead the way. Please pray for us, Jerry and Dorothy. Pray that the pending issues will be resolved.

are you insane? it will be over in six months probably less. All you're doing is suckling on the nipple like a newborn kitten. You must not get laid a lot.Whereas, YOU are such a charming individual that you find yourself turning down nookie left and right. Right?

haha ! You have a point. I think that the last two sentences on AZ's post could have been omitted
and make a valid point with only the first two sentences.

Resolve the issues then, Jerry, and don't rush to the altar until you do. But I applaud your courage in declaring yourself so soon.
I knew I'd found the right man when he told me on our second date that he wanted to make it permanent, and when hearing that from him didn't scare me witless.

Lots of christian counseling, prayer, and spend time getting to know your future spouse. Many a annoying habit won't be noticed at first, until you look honestly.
Best of blessings!

I have given this thought and yes it is very fast but we have both been divorced over 3 years after having been married 19 and 25 years.
If we looked at all the issues we would be overwhelmed. So we are going into this asking God to lead the way and dealing with one problem at a time. Being honest, if people knew what having kids was like and planned each one would they have them? Were all your kids planned?
Life has good times and challenges, that is the way it is supposed to be and God can make all things work but I appreciate your prayers.

Ignore the nay-sayers... remember, Dharma & Greg got married on the same day they met, and that worked out OK -- for 2 or 3 seasons anyway.

I would suggest that you both attend some "pre-marriage" counseling.
If you are christians, and attend a church, you can probably talk to your pastor about who to contact.

Congrats. My wife and I got engaged, a little more than 2 months after we met. It was almost a year and a half before we got marrried, but December will see our 10th anniversary.

I believe in love at first sight as well, but for your sake, and the sake of your intended, make sure you wait a bit.
Get your affairs in order and be ABSOLUTELY truthful with each other about your respective pasts.
If you can survive that, then go, and God Bless...

I know this will work out. We will have two homes until her son graduates next year, then move into mine, now I have 4 BR's for me and two dogs. I knew I kept this house for a reason.

My husband and I met in the Air Force in May of 1985; we were married that August.
Still married!
Best of luck to you and your lady!
P.S. Ignore the idiot from Arizona. Some people live to rain on others' parades.

Congratulations! Just imagine how absolutely beautiful your wedding will be since you have a good
eighteen months to plan it.
Seriously...if you love each other there is no reason not to have a comfortably long betrothal. But no shacking up, son!
