I need some help with a challenge that was issued me by a co-worker of mine. We were discussing how, since Hollywood is so bereft of ideas, old TV shows are being made into movies and even the old TV show ideas are being reused for new shows (CSI is really Quincy revisited). I thought that it would be fun to combine old TV shows to make the redesign less noticeable or more entertaining. He challenged me as to how many combinations I could work out.
The following is what I came up with.
Mayberry Vice:
In the first episode Andy and Barney go undercover to find who is supplying the area with narcotics. They discover a syndicate that is run by Goober and that Aunt Bee is on the payroll to get the secret ingredient for her famous brownies. Features a Cigarette boat chase between Barney (in a white silk suit and beard stubble) and Opie - The syndicates top dealer.
I love Lassie:
Laughs abound when Cuban bandleader Ricky Ricardo moves to San Francisco and marries his collie. The wacky neighbors are Fred and Ethel Mutts. In the first episode Lassie and Ethel try to get into Rickys act.
Seinfeld and Son:
Jerry inherits a junk business in LA only to find that Kramer is his son from a tryst he had in kindergarten.
Morkgyver:
Mindy -- I fixed the Jeep transmission with the toaster, a spoon and parts from your hairdryer.
OK have fun
ROOM 90210 - A black teacher is hired at a Beverly Hills High school only to discover that not only don't they ever go to class, but all the students are over 25 years of age!
(ROOM 222 and BEVERLY HILLS 90210)
Laughs abound when Cuban bandleader Ricky Ricardo moves to San Francisco and marries his collie. The wacky neighbors are Fred and Ethel Mutts. In the first episode Lassie and Ethel try to get into Rickys act.
Many hi-jinks ensue when Ethel is confronted by a neighbor's Presa Canario in their hallway.
Petticoat Bonanza.
Little Joe and Uncle Joe... ("We'll have a gay old time...")
"Put that saddle on the horse frontwards, Little Joe, before your Pa sees it!"
And Hop Sing would not only be kept Hopping, but he would also have more to Sing about!
I Dream of Dallas ... Tony, (Master) doesn't need Jeanie any more, because he's fabulously wealthy ... shoot!
And of course the old beloved favorite,
Mutual of Omaha's Wild on the Set ... Marlin Perkins goes one on one in Jell-O wrestling with wet tee shirt contestants, while Jim holds his jacket.
The Six-Million Dollar Family Affair ... Lee Majors takes over the role of Mr. French, to deal with the threat posed by Mrs. Beasley, (AKA Bride of Chucky).
Death Valley Happy Days ... Host Ronald Reagan competes with Howard Cunningham in a checkers competition.
The General Lee has been traded for a pink VW.
Action and hi-jinx abound when BO and Luke put on short shorts and work contrary to Bossy Hogg's greedy schemes.
Magnum 50 ... No action, just Jack Lord and Tom Selleck oozing testosterone pheromones at each other.
Hogan's Black Sheep ... Col. Hogan operates an American air strip inside Stalag 13 by convincing Col. Klink that the Luftwaffe are using prisoners of war to build fighter planes.
Ozzie and Archie ... Next-door neighbors Ozzie Nelson and Archie Bunker dont seem to understand each other at all.
Leave It To The Wonder Years ... Fred Savage does voice-overs as he follows the clueless Jerry Mathers through his typical day.
The Maude Squad ... Three teenagers imitate cross-dressing drag queens
Eight is Enough for the Brady Bunch ... No one knows anything about the show because the entire half hour is taken up listing the cast and characters.
Have Gunsmoke, Will Travel - Marshall Matt Paladin travels the West selling cigarette wrapping papers with the logo Wire Paladin, San Francisco.
Wagon Troop ... Larry Storch and Ken Berry escort travelers across the West.
Ben Caseload ... Sam Jaffe and Raymond Burr go head to head in medical malpractice cases.
Welcome Back, Mr. Ed ... A group of special students are tutored by a talking horse.
Be-Hulked ... Similar to Bewitched, except that instead of Elizabeth Montgomery, poor Darren has to deal with Rosanne Barr.
Alfred Hitchcocks Laugh-In ... So hilarious, you might wake up.
Obviously, I had too much time on my hands, even then.
