The breeders are trying, but I'm afraid they may never lose that apple-head they've created.

Thank you for posting that picture. Would that 'look' be acceptible for showing now?
To: Indy Pendance
Sadly, no. It looks more like today's field spaniel....a great breed.

I have a dear friend whose chocolate lab I dog-sit often. It is the most high strung pain-in-the-caboose animal I've ever known. My nieghbor got a yellow this past summer..same thing, high strung as all get out and downright obnoxious.
Don't want to offend any Lab lovers, but my preference is toward the giant breeds. I have a Saint who defines calm and good natured. Saints are the best IMHO.

The Newfy is a very sweet breed. Of course, I'm partial to my own breed's temperament though!
To: anniegetyourgun
That's a shame. Especially for those who want to see the breed restored to it's original intent.

One of my husband's A school instructors has a Newfoundland. My husband said that was the biggest (and the most spoiled *L*) dog he's ever seen.

Glad you're checking in. GOP loves the smaller ones, and Softengine loves the big dogs! I love 'em all....

Too bad, the picture you posted is more like my Sugar, great temperment also
That's the problem when a certain breed becomes the "favor" of the month
Irresponsible breeders breed dogs they shouldn't.

You know its a sign of the impending Apocalypse when...your teenager asks why no one streaks the Westminster? ROFL! Or, why doesn't anyone ever let a cat loose in there?

I rescued the neighbors Sheltie after she fell down a 75 foot cliff. I cried the whole way bringing her up. Poor dog didn't survive.

That's happening somewhat with German Shepherd Dogs. Irresponsible breeders are breeding them bigger and bigger. People who don't know the breed shouldn't be sold a dog, but these breeders don't care about the dogs, they only care to make a couple bucks. I met a women who bragged her GSD was 140 pounds. Mine are 75 (smallish) and 90 pounds.
To: anniegetyourgun
Yup the Sussex really looked great, great dog!
