It does not bother me if Mel, or other Catholics have that view. Believing in "pronouncements from the chair" is one of the differences between Catholics and Protestants, I suppose. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I guess it depends on where your chair is. I'm worried about the guy making pronouncements from a chair in a building that used to be a dry cleaners, but now it is the "New Independent Church of the Holy Fire, Thumping & Tithing".

Reformation Christians also believe in "pronouncements from the chair" we simply disregard usurpers to said chair.
