The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

he does a fair job with the medieval setting...He's very detailed oriented, and I like that a lot. It really rounds out the story when you can picture the places and situations from his descriptions.

Good morning!
Ya...when we driving to the airport after Entmoot, g'nad stopped at Patrick AFB. We went to the shoppette...boy...all AAFES places look pretty much the same. It definitely brought back memories!

Bakshi Samwise looks like he's looking forward to meeting you gals! Fortunately the image didn't show up for me, even when I used the properties. ;-)

If it were legal, I'd take pictures of our many "tank crossing" roadsigns.
(Hitting one of them is worse than hitting a deer.)

er, that made no sense. Lemme try again.
I love tanks. We have tanks everywhere- even lined up along the road for decoration (these are from the ordnance museum). And we have little yellow "tank crossing" roadsigns everywhere. I'd like to show you a picture of them- 'cuz they're funny.
And tanks bounding across the road are more hazardous than deer.

Good morning everyone
Saw The Passion last night.
First, the theater was absolutely packed and there were television crews there, but no protesters that I saw...we got there an hour early. My pastor was there and gave me a huge bear hug, which rather startled me, I'm not a bear hug type, generally.
It was extremely worth going to see. I highly recommend it.
What did I like about it? Well, Mr. Gibson seemed to have a way of relieving you from the horror of it using flashbacks to wonderful times in our Lord's ministry on earth...when you thought you just couldn't stand it any longer, Jesus would remember something and you could, during the respite of His memory, laugh even.
Still, it was graphically horrifying...just exactly how I have always understood Crucifixions to be. Many times I had to remind myself to breathe, and found I was clasping my handbag shaking violently.
Being able to relate, I was just crushed by how Mary was portrayed. At one point, I burst into tears, but couldn't let go of my grip of my handbag, so a friend in my homeschool group took my hand and gave me a tissue.
Did this movie make me HATE anyone? On the contrary! My Savior died a horrific death, but before He did, he commanded us to love one another! He even asked His Father to forgive the handful of people that did this to him, because they didn't know what they were doing! I'm not called to revenge. I'm called to love.
And if He can do what He did for me, the least I can do is what He asks.

Thanks for the review, 2J. Your endorsement means a lot to me.
I will be seeing it Sunday, unless I'm not able to get a ticket. I'm thinking I better bring lots of Kleenex.

Oh, and one more thing that I just found fascinating!
You know the movie has subtitles? Well, sometime during the movie, I simply forgot there were subtitles! It was like they blended in so well that you forgot your reading and could understand what they were saying!
Very hard to describe, but several of us mentioned it!

Well, you already know the ending, so saying it's got a great ending would be kinda silly...

Yeah...I kinda keep laughing at myself, 'cause my siblings have already seen it and when I talked to them yesterday I was thinking "I hope they don't spoil it!"...not like I don't know the story! Duh!

Mr. Gibson portrays it very well, the ending.
I keep smiling about all the bad press and thinking about Gen. 50:20.

I'm here! I've never been on an Army post before.

Part of the security at the gate. All visitors and "random" checks go through this. Must have been 100 guards at this gate alone. It was all done by armed civilian security personnel.

The gate was near a Motor Pool compound. Oh boy GI stuff!

My objective was to reconnoiter the PX.

Sign at the PX entry. Go Army!

After the PX mission was complete we took a whirlwind tour.

Recognize this one SAMWolf?

Something for Darksheare, and the Artillery buffs.

Wonder if those were "Compact Only" spaces these guys parked in?

This is III CORP Headquarters. A tree branch made it look like II CORP.

Rosie, you ever thought about re-enlisting?? Once in a great while...but with the AF not needing people, it would be hard to do, unless I wanted to change branches. And I don't, really. And for the most part, my reasons wouldn't be right...more nostalgia than for service to others or any real benefit to my life.
I'm pretty content with the way things are now, but I wouldn't give up my time in the military for anything.
