The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

No problem!

You're ahead of the game. I didn't know what some folks looked like exactly until I met them!

Good Evening; Gentlemen, thank you for those kind words, I do thoroughly enjoy archery in its many forms, but there are many that far exceed my abilities when it comes to crafting a wood bow, but again I thank you for your graciousness.

Fedora, welcome to the Hobbit Hole, from your posts, I gather your interests are quite varied, permit me to chat a bit about the virtues of the feathered shaft.

You say you have a compound bow, an excellent choice as probably 90 percent of the archers use them. I'm from the traditional side of the camp, recurves and longbows both laminated and wood bows. It is, however, a big tent, with room for all who share the fling the arrow. I make most all of my own archery gear, bows, arrows, and quivers. The largerst gathering of wood bow afficiandos and crafters is in Marshall MO in mid July. G'nad and the family attended last year as well.

Good evening to you, Master Bowman.

I'm trying to set a schedule which allows me to catch up at night since my current job has so much time restriction.

Sam: for fishing laughs you might like Patrick McManus "a fine and pleasant misery" he has a number of humorous outdoors books on the market and in most libraries. btw. Paddlefish, your salt water gear would be appropriate as they are caught by snagging, heavy rods and big treble hooks. Osage river has a goodly population. Working on bridge crossing study in Tulsa, saw a good sized one floating along the shore, deceased, bout 4 ft long, half snout, half fish.

In the Sherlock Holmes genre, try Laurie King - The beekeepers apprentice, the regiment of monstrous women and the moor. Sherlock takes on an assistant, a young american woman studying at Oxford/Cambridge. Well written Victorian tales.

I know the feeling, can "lurk" at lunch but posting is frowned upon, so it's evenings catch up time. :-)

You are so right... I think I'm done now. At least for a while...

Sheesh. Some days it just never ends.

Maybe I could join the Foreign Legion or something and finally get away from these people.
