The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Just found out that my brother Mike's quadruple bypass is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Could y'all please lift him up in prayer tonight or tomorrow morning? Thanks so much!

Already on it Suzy! Since yesterday. Not forgetting. Will make sure Wednesday night and Thursday are covered until we hear from you.

I believe there are still things that could prevent the surgery (her blood's too thin, etc.) but it appears that it's all a go.

Praying on this one too!

I wanted Meg's room. Having a bunch o' brothers myself who at times resembled Sandy and Dennis, I would have LOVED a quiet place like that to escape.

Plus she had Calvin, who turned out pretty OK.

The book I liked best, though, she wasn't the main character - Charles Wallace was. That's the one I mentioned. In that one, Meg is already married to Calvin and expecting a baby.

I need to re-read all of those. I should check half.com - I'd love to own them, as I'd re-read them over and over, I'm sure. OK, so they're kid books...so are many good books!

Hey, did I ever tell you that our church got robbed here a while back? Did I ever tell you the rest of the story?

Rosie, that is an excellent book! Just because it's readable to a young person doesn't make it any less an excellent book!

Steve read "The Bronze Bow" in the time when he was deciding whether or not to accept the Lord as his Savior! It's about letting go of anger and turning your life over to the Lord and I really believe it was instumental in softening his heart.

You get those books and read 'em without embarrassment young lady! ;-)

Much!

They caught the guys. One of the guys wrote a letter to our pastor begging our forgiveness. Said that he knew the Lord would never forgive him for what he'd done, but hoped that we might. Bro. Nick had the police bring him to the church and explained to this young man (18?) about God's forgiveness. The guy ended up on his knees, asking the Lord into his heart.

Then Bro. Nick explained that the Father had forgiven him, but that he would have to ask the church himself if we forgave him. So Bro. Nick read the letter to the church, and called the young man to the front. He was in tears. Bro. Nick asked "Well, church? Do we forgive him?" and we all stood up and said we did. (Remember, I belong to a massive church, so this was quite a showing).

So, the guy ended up JOINING our church, being baptized.

The next thing you know, he's got his little brother coming and HE ends up joining the church! These guys were completely lost!

Now the guy robbed a lot of churches. He's got time he's going to have to do, I imagine...still, thought you might like to know the rest of the story.

Perhaps we need to start a new annual tradition... eat the groundhog before he has a chance at a shadow!

Well, with my skeptical heart, I wonder if he is "duping" us...but Wn...everyone deserves a chance, and I think my church is just saying "We're willing to give you that chance, and even help you start over."

I really hope to see good things from this guy. What a testimony he already has.
