The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I think I'm gonna be a lot more strict in the future.

But every time I say that, I give in when they end up stuck somewhere...because most people would be far MORE inconvenienced than I would having to pick them up.

Part of it is just personality differences. I'm the sort of person who will be somewhere at ten of when asked to meet, and have a VERY clear idea on WHERE to meet...they just aren't. And it drives me batty! I would NEVER have treated an adult like that at their ages.

Don't trivialize the things that get you down, Rosie. They are plenty real and BIG when they're your own problems.

I'm still hoping you'll meet Prince Charming one night when you're playing your mandolin and least expect it. :-)

DO it! Drive out there with a paddle!

I can't stand it when people make me wait and wonder when they had a choice to call.

Did you go see the movie too?

By the way, I'm Ruthy!

I used to hang out in here a lot, but life gets in the way.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole! Been here long?

Their response is always that I shouldn't be so intent on waiting...it's not that big of a deal. But if I'm supposed to wait for a phone call - that's what I'll be doing, and they KNOW that's what I'm like!

Didn't see the movie, no. If I DO see it, it'll be on Sunday.

Why, that's the Hitch Hiker Guide to the Galaxy. With the words "Don't Panic" written on the front in comforting letters to help keep you calm.

What does that mean? - That if they are late it is fine for you to just leave? I would say "OK, if I feel like it, I'll pick you up..... if I change my mind and don't come, don't worry, it isn't personal"

It sounds like you have an exceptional sense of responsibility as well as good planning skills, which is a very good thing :) Unfortunately a lot of people don't have that, especially at a young age--yes, I think personality is part of it. My sister-in-law's family is like your siblings as far as not being considerate about planning, which has a lot to do with their mother's personality, and it drives my Mom nuts every time she tries to organize a family event.

Something like that. Or that if I'm waiting for them to call (and I don't have a cell phone), I can give up waiting after awhile. But I'm sure the one time I DID, I'd get chewed out.

I lectured 'em on Friday, but apparently it didn't get through. But Dad's in on it this time around. I imagine he's giving them a talking to. I didn't talk to them directly tonight, and it's probably just as well. Even just talking to Dad...well...I yelled more than usual.

Grrr...God grant me patience - NOW!

Hi, Ruthy! Thanks for the official introduction/welcome! :) I've been here not quite a week, I think. 2Jedismom told me about it so I thought I'd check it out. Having fun here! Nice to meet you :)
