The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

We had trouble with pics showing up on our Hobbit Hole Yahoo Group.... Because it was a private group maybe? The links also may break after a number of hits in a short period. That is what my webshots used to do. They would work, but not for very long.Hmmm--that might be it, thanks.

Amazing little egg, isn't it! I've only got one double-yolker, from Roy long time ago...but this is the tiniest egg I've ever seen from a chicken!

Get a load of this, would ya??? SOMEBODY laid this really tiny egg! Can you believe it? It's just barely over an inch long, that's a quarter, then a dime next to it.That's eggstremely small! :)
To: 2Jedismom
You could keep it, Easter is right around the corner. You could paint it like those candy Robin Eggs and play guess which isn't the candy egg!
To: PurpleQ
THat's a good idea too! Like I say, I bet it's just whites in there...I can't imagine it having a yolk.

You bet.
I'm just amazed. I mean, I thought little eggs came from new layers! None of my hens ever laid really small eggs even at the beginning...although Benny Hen's eggs have always been the smallest...like medium sized store-bought.
And funny enough, she's the one that makes the biggest racket...bocks for 20 minutes or more after laying a little dinky egg!

Maybe she has security issues...has to make all that fuss to pump herself up. ;-)

You know, chickens stand up to lay their eggs. Stand straight up, squeeze their chins down onto their chest and push it out. Benny Hen will stay in the nest all afternoon, just sitting on that little old egg like she's gonna hatch it. It's when she gets bored of sitting that she kicks up the racket.
Puffy, on the other hand, will push out the egg and not even bother to sit back down...just walks out of the nest and gets a bite to eat. Doesn't make a sound.

Dreary yeah, and all the drearier now. Went to work out for lunch and between the curves place and my truck I got drenched. Only 30 feet to run, but those were some hugh raindrops. Buckets. Now I'm here at work soaking wet, just drenched. No towel, paper towels. and of course kinda tight stretchy denim that sticks to you like moogy spandex when wet. ugh. Feels horrible. If I had any sick time left I'd take it. I'd give almost anything for a warm cotton flannel night gown right now, and cup of hot tea.

Ugh...I hate wet denim! Not only does it stick to you, but it stays wet FOREVER and is sooo cold.

I hope your crew appreciated those sausage balls! They are excellent!!
To: LSAggie
Yeah...I got several compliments and a request for a recipe. It's always good when you get recipe requests at a potluck.
I think I've found the perfect (for my taste) butter:cheese:sausage ratio. 1/2 cup butter, 2 cups cheese, 10 ounces (1 1/4 cup) of bulk sausage. I used the hot sausage this time.

Oh that does sound miserable!
It's threatening to rain here...but all we got was a little sprinkle yesterday...some areas got more, but not us.
We need it though...there's grassfires springing up all over and with the Big Windy starting, we need to get things damp!

If I go, I'll be going next Sunday evening with a bunch of people from our parish and the parish one town over. I kinda feel like I should...but also am dreading it because I know it's going to be very tough to watch. If that makes sense.

I was so chilled and shivering. A/C was still blowing from this morning's hot weather. Then one of the guys here said he had a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt in his truck. Oh man. So much better!! He tells me 'they're clean' although wrinkled up. (hah like I cared) Icy cold rain, but now nice and soft cotton comfy dry. Amen. (you really hafta be so miserable to feel this good. lol) Think I'll go make a pot of coffee.
