The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

It's not just today. The Hole has been practically deserted for weeks.

It was kinda weird and clumsy.... Sean Astin's behavior last night. He kinda sidled up to Bernard Hill as if to help him because he was dragging... and then he made some really clumsy comments about SAG
Good ...afternoon. Couldn't sleep last night, so up and trying to start this Monday a bit late. Terry is off again to Dallas, then Huntsville, Ala next week.
"SAG-ing" after the "SAG' awards last night. Couldn't figure out Sean last night either, Hair. He can get somewhat "hyper", and from some of the cast members have said, he has major "control issues".
Read his mother, Patty Duke's two books, "Call Me Anna" and "A Brillant Madness" about her struggle with Manic/Depressive illness. It is a miracle that Sean can walk and talk and be the moral family man he is, coming from and working within that HW enviroment.
It almost seemed like he "spased out" from nerves or something. I think Tim Robbins may have "baited" this with his remark about "these run away productions in foreign countries taking American dollars" crap. His wife, made, what I thought was a rather vague dig at LOTR at the "Globes" by making some stupid statement about Tim Robbins' film being good on its on merits without the use of "special effects".
I could be overly senistive here, but I think both remarks were aimed at LOTR.
What I THINK Sean was trying to say last night was that he and his family have been a part of "SAG" and the Hollywood community for two generations and trying to make a plea for unity. It just think it didn't come out right. Although he is liberal, he is, I think, a "honest" one, otherwise, his thinking is darkened so he believes this is the "position" which shows the most compassion. I don't think he is liberal to "devour people" for power.
I do hope and pray for him to see truth and be a part of that.
Wish Elijah had been there as I think he is helpful in "stablizing" Sean, but kinda concerned about this stuff going on in New Orleans. Hope he manages to hold some kind of "witness"
Sorry on a soap box this am. Do hope you are all well and had a good weekend. Under the weather here for most of it. I guess I should shut up.

He would need his mother to be there.

He also said he was pretty sure he wasn't gonna feel the urge to go torch a synagogue afterwards. ;-) Heh.LOL! BTW I found myself thinking about the movie today, too. The part about it that I think will affect me the most is being forced to see the suffering that my sins helped cause and that Christ endured for me despite my sin. The other thing I'm thinking about is that it's really unprecedented how the media is doing so much to try to tear Mel Gibson down, which leads me to conclude Gibson must be doing something right. "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Elijah was made statements that he is a Christian. If he goes out "on a limb" by making that statement, then I do hope that his life will reflect what he has claimed to be. I'm not talking about "church behavior" (however one describes that), I am referring to a life that reflects a relationship with Christ. Elijah is looked up to by many young people, including my childern. He is, whether he likes or not, a role model. You can have a great time without falling into debachery.
Yes, his mother's presence would prob. help a good bit with all that goes on in New Orleans at Mardi Gras. Prayers would help too.

And here, listen to this! I wash every day, I go to hang up the laundry on the line. Here's my undies, here's Matthew's undies, here's Joshua's undies...then there's Steve's undies...like FIVE PAIR of 'em! Same with socks! A pair of socks for each of us...6 pair for Steve!I think he just can't hardly believe his drawer is full of clean laundry every day and thinks he's gotta use it up!
I've asked him about it...said "Who wears 5 pairs of underwear in a 24 hour period??" He just thought that was hysterical and laughed...but never answered me!
Sounds like the work of Underpants Gnomes to me. . .but I can't find a good picture of the Underpants Gnomes, so this is probably the next closest thing:

I was speaking with a sly look and a bit of tongue in cheek about his mother rather than prayer! ;~D
. New Orleans is a carnival of monumental proportions. But he'll get through it, you just may want to try to not find out how. I still think he is a good kid. Rather have him there than hanging out with Viggo.

It was kinda weird and clumsy.... Sean Astin's behavior last night.I didn't see that, but his mom had a similar experience of tripping out at the Academy Awards once, which is mentioned in her autobiography--maybe that was affecting him subconsciously or something. I agree he's young and idealistic and trying to find something to do with that. Hopefully John Rhys-Davies will help guide him in the right direction--that's kind of funny about John nudging Sean offstage humorously, I can just see that, LOL! :)

That's the pic I was trying to find!--thank you :)

Elijah was made statements that he is a Christian.Didn't know that--that's good to hear! He must have some conviction and courage to state that publicly in the profession he's in. Hopefully he will find some fellowship (no pun intended!) among other Christian actors that will help sustain him against the pressures of the industry.

That is what my daughter said. I think we need to believe anyone who would make that kind of stand in that place. He is just so young, but like Hair says, he seems to have a good head on his shoulders. LOL, his ethics are miles ahead of most of that HW bunch.
