The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

That was my biggest concern, driving home...that a gust would knock me over.

That really is the most impressive job they are doing! Your reporting is good, almost like being there!

Joshua's preschool is learning about America this week. He took our flag and certificate to school.

It was series business to him, I tell ya. I let him carry the flag out to the car and he held it so very carefully, and so proudly.

What did they think about that? Were they impressed?

They weren't impressed with the certificate, but they seemed fascinated by the flag! Everyone wanted to touch it! It's got a dusty potatoe feel to it, you know?
The teachers were the most interested, I think...they asked me all about it and I told them about the Hobbit Hole.

Brr...just went to go for a walk since it was up in the thirties out there today...but the wind is gusting - not nearly as fast as yours, of course, but oh, is it cold! And I stupidly forgot my gloves at work.
I came back home. I'll walk another day, I guess!

Not my cup of tea... I have no wish to visit Oz, or the hospital.

Heh...isn't he cute, though, standing so straight and tall there? Very cool.

Howdy! Did I miss you already? Always good to see you!

68 here...got up to 71.
It's beautiful, vey windy! The house sounds like it's getting beat up!

Ft. Collins is Ball Lightning central. Have fun with that stuff.

It was beautiful here today, too. Highs in the low thirties and sunny. But it's supposed to get down to the single digits...guess the wind is working on that!
To: 2Jedismom
That's such a cute picture! Yes, he does look vey series about holding the flag :) BTW I see the one boy in the seated row holding the left side of the plaque has already learned to make funny faces at the camera when taking pictures--he must be the mischief maker in the class :)

Still here for another 10 minutes.
So how was the reaction here to Viggo revealing he is a typical Hollywood type politically? Remember, it is ARAGORN and GANDALF we admire, not the folks who portray them. The art of Michaelangelo is magnificent and inspiring, whatever his weaknesses and vices.
Looks pretty good for ROTK getting the Oscar, I hope!

Looks like I bet he is! I don't know many of the kids, though...
Do you know the story behind the flags? Several people here in the Hole contributed several hundred dollars in cash and items that I sent over to Afghanistan to a chaplain friend of mine...he disbursed the items to the troops of the 82nd Airborne.
Much to our astonishment, all the "contributors" ended up getting these certificates, and a flag that flew over Kandahar Air Field. Well, one person didn't...hers got lost in the mail, apparently.
Read about it Here!
Ecurb...is there a page about the flags? Did that ever get off the ground?

We're on the same page with you, LCS... couldn't care less about the actor, personally.
If RotK doesn't win, well, it just shows Hollywood for what it is.
